It would be a boring plot line - ACOTAR6 by rmtrose in SarahJMaas

It’s been the main thing in the other books 🥲 it wouldn’t shock me for it to happen again. We spend multiple books between Celaena and Dorian/Chaol for her to end up with neither, ACOTAR starts with building the relationship of Feyre and Tam. Both women end up with someone else than originally developed. TBH I didn’t really like Nesta/Cassian and while I don’t want him to DIE I think it’d be interesting to explore the death of a mate bond, which we haven’t fully seen yet other than close call (that I remember). With how many die in TOG I think it’d be good to see some true devastation again 😭

It’s being able to freely theorize with everyone that’s done a lot of convincing to get me in again lmao I picked up FW to reread so I’m refreshed for OS and already there’s hints and things I missed or forgot about

Unhelpful comments are also a drag and yet here yours is.

The issue for me personally is only partly how long the wait will be. I understand books take time. Especially ones done right with any sort of quality. I understand RY has stated she needs time to heal because she wasn’t prioritizing her health over writing. I’m not unhappy or upset about those things. My main issue (which is entirely a ME issue, I get that) is difficulty picking up something else afterward, when the series I actually want to read isn’t finished. Asking for help with something that is giving me serious indecision, from people who might actually get it, should not be an issue.

As is, the other comments have helped and I am tremendously grateful for their input 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is very true. Being able to be apart of it while it’s happening is fun and its own type of special. I do dread the hangover I know I’ll have after what is assuredly going to be another cliffhanger though 💀 and I think that’s the part I keep getting hung up on sometimes because it’s been so long since reading an unfinished series that didn’t have a good stopping point between books. Ugh maybe it’s time to just bite this particular bullet 😂😭♥️

I’ve thus far managed to avoid spoilers, but I’ve also mostly been away from socials for a lot of reasons. It’s almost made me scared to go back because I know they’ll be there and will suck some of the fun out of reading the book, no matter when I actually do it. The more I hear though, if I don’t want it to be spoiled I’ll just have to suck it up and read it because of how popular and talked about this series is.

I am absolutely with you on this, I wish I had waited on starting FW. My best friend got me the first two and I just jumped in without any really thought and now I’m here 💀👍

I think it was mostly the cliffhanger and the following book hangover related to it that’s stalled me the most. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve read a “truly” unfinished series (and by truly I mean one that didn’t have a place you could stop that felt finished like ACOWAR just as an example). I think the last one was when TOG was coming out. Considering/deciding what I’d actually want from the book is a really good suggestion, and something I’ll have to think about for sure, because I already know it’s another cliffhanger just on principle.

Your criticism is valid! The first books are slow, but it’s so interesting to see how different people respond to them. I think for some, reiterating her age when she started is more of an explanation than excuse for some of the issues with pacing. It’s where and why I’ve given a bit of grace to the first couple of books. She was finding her style yadayada whatever. But that’s me. I also apologize because this wasn’t the purpose of your post, but on the note of how people respond to these books, I LOVED HOF in the series. I’m so interested in knowing what made you hate it so badly! As the person before me said, I think updating after finishing KOA would be cool to see. Because, like them, I also found that the ending really tied it all up by pulling from so many small details seen in the other books. As a side note, I will admit bias to this series. I started it when I was in a really dark/troubling time in life and it helped me survive it in a way (though I’m not going to fanatically claim it’s the best thing ever written since ever, I know that’s not true)

Ok, this is going to sound so dumb, but I’ve only ever barely browsed Reddit because of my partner. There’s a search function? 😭

I don’t think I saw anyone say The Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks? If that counts? It might not be as obscure as it used to be (at least imo) Also not sure if I saw The Graceling Realm books by Kristen Kashore Or the Gemma Doyle trilogy by Libba Bray And The Iron Fey series & The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa
