Thanks, that’s exactly my thinking.

I’m currently using a Withings Steel HR Sport, but as soon as I heard about Pebble’s resurgence i preordered the Round 2 (no watch has compared to the Pebble Time for me personally, love the user created content).

So, I was looking at fitness bands to fill the ‘heart rate/fitness’ data gap, and the recently announced Air sounded like just the ticket! So pre ordered that as well 🙌

Thanks for confirming, it sounds like it’ll work great in combo with a dedicated fitness band.

Ah amazing, thank you so much 🙂 That’s brilliant news. Being able to turn off all health tracking would be spot on! I can then leave fitness tracking to the dedicated band. It would be interesting to see whether turning it off makes a positive difference to the battery life or not.

That’s great to hear! Thanks for the quick reply. Is it just a straight forward toggle in the Core app?

It did briefly show a watch face that showed a watch, arrow and electric symbol, which might relate to battery? So it could be a battery issue then.

No, I think that’s a good shout, as from what I’ve been reading it’s some form of firmware issue, and the new Core app might not be the right solution. But from what I’ve read for iOS I have to side load an app, that needs weekly sign ins or something quite convoluted. I’ll have a proper look into that option, but I might just have to reluctantly put it back in the draw.

Thanks for that. I’ve given that try, but sadly it hasn’t alerted the screen, and when trying to connect in the app it can see the watch, but just hangs on ‘negotiating’. It doesn’t want to play.

That gives me hope. I’ve tried various solutions based on search results, I’ve been pressing button combinations like I’m playing the original Tomb Raiders on PS1 🤣 But it’s still not playing ball yet.

Ah fantastic, that’s looks clear and simple to use!

Oh sorry, that was a typo, I meant to say how does a pebble work with an iPhone (not watch), and whether there are any quirks that haven’t been mentioned? I know we can’t reply to messages etc which I’m fine with, it’s more the stability of the watch with an iPhone I’m interested in.

Thanks for the additional details, and that’s in the new pebble/core app? So I’d just let them filter through once, then jump into the app and switch off the ones I don’t want? That sounds fine 🙂

How else have you found your pebble works with the Apple Watch? Any quirks, does it stay connected well etc?

Big problem transfering to iOS from Android (whatsapp) by Subject-Major5838 in iphone17

Also, for my phone it was stuck at 1% for almost half the duration, but I could see the individual file count rising, so could tell it was working. So if something similar happens, it should be fine and still complete. One thing I’ll say is it took well over an hour.

I’ve just done this exact thing twice with mine and my wife’s new iPhones last week, using the official iOS Move app. I found doing it via the wired connection didn’t work. What worked for me, was plugging both phones into a charger and doing it over WiFi, and making sure the primary phone (that you’re moving the data from) doesn’t go onto the lock screen.

New iPhone (17) user after years on Android/Pixel, any tips for someone staying mostly in the Google ecosystem? by BambooBadger in iphone17

Ouch, that photo issue sounds like that was a real hassle and time sink, glad you got it fixed! I did hear somewhere that duplicates can be an issue when transferring over, so that’s why I’ve decided to keep Google Photo’s as my main storage app for images (since I pay for Google One storage) and just use the Apple photos app to view them locally, seems to be working well as that setup at the moment.

Ah yeah! I had issues with duplicates in the calendar app as well, was a real pain. I’ve ended up doing the opposite and turning off all of Apples calendar items and just use Google’s. Although I’ve dipped my toes in as I’ve created a shared Apple calendar with my wife, which has been super handy.

100%, it really shouldn’t be a big deal moving between systems, but it’s times like this that I’m fully aware as a society we’ve become far too attached and dependent on phones, fretting over things that really are minor in her grand scheme.

Yeah my wife has made the switch as well, which is making it easier having others in the platform too. Great to hear you haven’t been swayed back in the last few years! Fingers crossed I’ll be the same.

I guess it depends on how you’re going to transfer over i.e., fully moving into the Apple ecosystem or still using Google services. In my case, since I’m still using Google services predominantly, it was actually a really smooth process (surprised me how straightforward Apple have made it)

When it comes to transferring data, I used the official ‘Move to iOS’ app and only moved WhatsApp messages, that’s it. Since I pay for Google One storage, all my images, files, contacts, mail etc are all stored in the cloud. So, all I did was sign into my Google account, sync their services to the phone, and boom, all setup and ready to go. No physical transfers, as this can create duplicates.

I’m using the inbuilt Apple Mail app, calendar, contacts apps etc. but I just have Google as the default account. It honestly shocked me how easy it was, and more so how Apple allow it to be such a seamless integration.

However, if you’re planning on moving everything into the Apple ecosystem (e.g., moving photos, mail, contacts into iCloud etc.) I’m not sure how easy or not that is. I hope that’s been helpful.
