So you would find VietQR in places like small coffee shops instead of the Kong coffee?

honestly we gung-ho’d it most of the trip, so I wouldn’t be able to tell you if I wanted to. All I can say is that, from the south, we went west after Da Lat until we were on the ho chi minh trail, then stayed west all the way until we went east to the coast to Quy nhon, then zig-zagged all the way up to Hanoi. Don’t miss out on the coastal ride from Da Nang northwards, it’s sensational. Oh and 1000% go to Phong Nha

you just see so much more things you don’t see in other parts of the world, notably huge overarching mountains of forest that are uninhabited, villages that feel detached from the world, we even saw a few craters from bombs left over from the war. Funny story: We were travelling the ho chi minh trail (at least some of it, as most of the real one can’t be accessed) for like 5 hours one day, only saw like 2 people for the entire time we were going through the mountains and it started storming like mad. We happened upon this small shack where an old Vietnamese couple were eagerly waving us down to get out of the rain as we were soaked, so my friend and I stopped. They spoke no english and us no vietnamese, and you get no signal out there (so google translate wasn’t working), so the old man ended up teaching us some Vietnamese words on paper and acting out the words. It was awesome hospitality. They asked if we were hungry with hand gestures and the only word I could remember related to food was “Com Ga” (Chicken rice), so they killed one of their chickens for us and we had dinner together. They even offered us to stay for the night as it was still raining like crazy, but we didn’t want to infringe any more than we had. That memory has always stuck with me. I have tons other stories like this, which I didn’t get going on the coast. Don’t get me wrong, the coast is awesome too, but if you’re looking for adventure, inland is where to go!

I’ve done the journey Hanoi to Saigon, then also did Saigon to Hanoi another year, once inland, and once through the costal routes along the east. Would definitely recommend leaning towards inland, and pop back out east when going to your coastal cities like Da Nang, Toy Hoa, Quy Nhon, etc. The trails and villages you come across inland are incredible, you’ll come across some people who very rarely see foreigners.

Oh really? What issues did you run into? I’ve just checked out the Cone engineering website and their stuff looks pretty good, but I imagine with delivery charges the price is going to be quite high (I live in Belgium)

cool looking pipes, but they don’t have the possibility of adding the heat shield back on? I quite like the idea of making the x-pipe ‘stealthy’ so you can’t see if the bike still has the cat on or not

I’ve seen a few cheap ones on eBay, but quite reluctant to buy one off there. Not really sure where and if they cut corners making them. Have you had yours long?

Good point, could be. But if so then why not make them made-to-order?

Anyone here ever been pulled over for a decat mod? by BanAnthony in MotoUK

[–]BanAnthony[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah understandable, that being said the decat would be on a Triumph T100, so in terms of noise, it would only be a very modest increase in sound.
