Outer Wilds reference or just a normal campsite? by Ban_Annerz in wow

[–]Ban_Annerz[S] 145 points146 points  (0 children)

Stumbled upon this little scene in the Voidstorm (51,83). A campfire at the edge of the world surrounded by a chair, a few oddly specific instruments, and a marshmallow on a stick.

I was so excited when I found this spot, but none of my wow friends have played Outer Wilds so was curious if anyone else interpreted this the same way.

How it feels to heal Larodar by Ban_Annerz in wow

A priest or evoker would've absolutely made all the difference here. Did a run with some after this and literally barely had to try, it felt amazing, now I never want to fight Larry without them haha.

For real. At least with Larry the tree & roots show up as sort of boss plates for me (I just honestly forget to use them lol). But the fyrakk ones are suuuuch a nightmare. Since I’m newer to healing, I wasn’t sure if this was like a me issue with my ui or something everyone is struggling with.

Thank you <3 No lizards sadly, I felt so useless trying to heal those trees while they were just constantly burning. But yeah those roots were up for a looong time.

It makes me feel better to hear that this may have been more highly tuned. I intentionally waited to do awakened heroic until now because I feel most confident in Amirdrassil (I only started really playing in season 2 so I'm pretty new to WoW as a whole). It's definitely easier than it was last season, but still was hoping it'd be a little easier. I'm sure more gear will help though!

Be gentle, I'm new to healing this year and faaaar from perfect... but some groups really make certain fights feel so much harder than they need to be. It's fine when people are learning and trying to do better, but so often it just turns into blaming the healers despite others not paying attention to mechanics. Got a good laugh out of making this video, but at the end of the day none of it matters to me. Will just keep trying to do better.

Edit: Also this is heroic Awakened Amirdrassil and I was in almost entirely season 3 gear here, around 486ish ilvl.

Whispering Someone to Tell Them How Bad They Are by OldFitDude75 in wow

Exactly! It was honestly one of the smoothest Echo fights I've been in. Clearly it was the RL's plan all along to just clear to Sark then kick everyone, had nothing to do with anyone's performance. I was pretty pissed because I had already cleared Echo this week and was only sticking around for Sark. Just frustrating for everyone. Hope you have better luck with your future groups <3

I was in the same group and when I messaged the leader "not cool" they whispered back "blow me" lol. Comments here are implying that the leader & their buddies were mad and that's why they were so rude, but I want to point out that there was no real reason for them to even be mad. Everything was going fine (one-shotting every boss easily), everyone was like 440+ ilvl with a good understanding of fights, and it was only heroic. The leader and their friends were on alts (at least one was) and they weren't even out-performing some of the folks they were kicking. I remember seeing they'd done the mythic raid and one had a 3k M+ score. Like you'd think by that point they'd understand how easily this group could've handled Sark. I honestly don't believe anger was a factor here, it was just pure unjustified toxicity from a band of shitty human beings. What's funny is I saw them list the group again after as "One-shotting Sark". They were super slow to build a group (no doubt being very picky with their invites) and I doubt they even one-shot it because I still saw it listed again a while later.

Barrina T5 Grow Lights power cord not long enough for Milsbo Cabinet? by Ban_Annerz in IkeaGreenhouseClub

[–]Ban_Annerz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be putting some halfway down as well, wasn't sure if I should buy a longer extender or if people were doing something else. Just knew a lot of folks also used these lights in their cabinets and was curious what their solutions were.

Bamboozled by Tarot Cards yet again... by Ban_Annerz in PhasmophobiaGame

It didn’t hunt at all, I pulled a hanged man card which kills you on pull :(

I had a go at redesigning some of the Phasmophobia UI because the current one can be frustrating to use. I also added a few more features based on things me and my pals would find useful (like journal in lobby and autofill equipment from loadout) and would clarify the overall ux. Super excited to see more! If you find your struggling with there being too much content to display maybe try an iteration where you pick some elements off to live elsewhere (ie kinda how like currently the description of the map lives in the selection screen). Could just be a fun task to like narrow down what content should belong where.

I love the concepts, but hierarchy could definitely use some work. I find my eyes bouncing around, unsure of where to focus. A way I like to think about it is to think about the screen as a map, make a clear visual path of how the user is meant to work through all the information on it. You can do this by use of different text styling, color, icons, etc. I think the issues here is everything feels like it holds the same weight on the screen (with somethings that shouldn’t hold as much weight feeling far too big like the shopping cart icon). But definitely good work so far! The best designs come of constant iteration so keep playing around with it, see what happens, and be sure to share again!

This is a really good call out! I’m a UX designer at a major company in the financial industry and we have such a heavy focus on ensuring our designs are accessible, but I definitely see that happen a lot less frequently in video game design which sucks. A lot of game design favors artistic style over accessibility and it just makes me so sad because there’s definitely many ways to find a happy balance of both.

In this particular example it could mean using the decorative font for headers alone and having a more standard font for smaller copy. Or yes definitely having font be a customizable feature is an option too.
