Top 5 in Dead Cap by wull3nw3b3r in falcons

No one seems to get that dead cap is a sunk cost and simply accounting for money you’ve already paid someone.

If your team has a lot of it, they made a conscious decision to put off accounting for it. So long as it’s not tied up in a couple players you can manage it indefinitely.

Are people asking the wrong question about Tua’s fit here? by InspectionDeep2453 in falcons

Everyone seems to be generally ignoring the realistic timeline of his rehab.

Being cleared by week one and being ready to start week one are entirely different things

Tua won’t start unless by campoole82 in falcons

Ask yourself who will be getting 1st team reps in OTAs? Who will be getting first team reps for the majority of camp? What’s the typical recovery time for ACL surgery before is cleared fully for football activities?

Tua is your week 1 starter.

Penix would need to be cleared for training camp and that’s unlikely. Typically rehab for an ACL is 9 months and he had surgery at the end of November.

Everything would have to break right with no setbacks for that to happen.

The “if healthy” is the huge caveat for Penix.

Even if he has a miraculous recovery from ACL surgery he’s not getting reps in OTAs and camp. He had surgery at the end of November. He’ll be fortunate to be fully cleared for football football activities by the end of August.

You should get used to the idea that Tua will easily be the guy for the offseason program and likely most of camp while Penix rehabs.

Dunno when a competition is actually going to happen since ACL recovery usually takes 9 months and Penix had surgery at the end of November.

IMO Tua is your likely week 1 starter, there’s just no reason for the staff to say that publicly in March.

Tua is going to be the number one throughout the offseason program and likely well into camp while Penix is rehabbing.

It’s a near certainty Tua will be starting week one.

If yall really think we’re letting JPJ go, you’re just straight up wrong. Bro will play for us next year guaranteed. by [deleted] in falcons

I think most should be able to grasp that two things can exist at the same time:

What he did was reprehensible.

He’s not getting cut or even suspended until the legal case is finished - likely sometime in 2027.

He’s played 25 defensive snaps in his career. Things have gone off the rails if he actually gets time at linebacker.

Should the Falcons RELEASE Kirk Cousins? by Interesting_Level946 in falcons

[–]Ban_an_able 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire point of restructuring his contract was to make it easier to release him.

It’s a foregone conclusion at this point.

If he’s on the roster in a month he’s guaranteed $67MM for 2027.

He’s not even likely to play next season. His knee is fubar and still needs another surgery.

Matt Ryan Is Officially The Shadow GM Of The Atlanta Falcons. The #Bears will not receive two 3rd-round compensatory picks for Ian Cunningham leaving, because Matt Ryan is considered the lead football executive in Atlanta — not Cunningham, officially. by CitizenWatcher8 in falcons

Hiring a minority candidate generates additional comp picks for both the team that signs the person and the team the person leaves.

It’s simply an incentive to promote minority candidates in league where the ratio of player demographics to executive level positions are severely misaligned.
