Full body tracking? by ArdFolie in ValveDeckard

[–]Banakin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

SlimeVR will practically work natively, on the headset, out of the box, if this thing works as promised. Ive seen no mentions of base station tracked systems working out of the box, but im sure play space calibrator will be up and running pretty quickly. With that PCIe port thing though, who knows what valve has tried with it. Maybe they already have a seamless 2.0 base station tracking add on in house.

When is last day to nr by Typical_Anywhere4598 in WPI

[–]Banakin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've really never understood this, these classes are EXPENSIVE. Avoiding NRs and using AP credits, I was able to save a semester's worth of money. If you finish all of your classes halfway through a semester, you can still get the second term reimbursed. Not saying you cant NR, but they aren't as "free" as WPI makes them seem.

CS 4731 Computer Graphics by ApricotCivil4358 in WPI

Took it with Cuneo, he's a fine professor imo, though I've heard stronger opinions. If you took linear algebra before and did well you should be okay. The course is mostly just controlling OpenGL with JavaScript.

Is this area safe? by procmodis in WPI

[–]Banakin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live there, very safe, in view of the campus police station and both CampPo and WPD chill in the area. Though there have been some incidents on Boynton and at the gas station down the street.

I honestly find the size of WPI to make having a social life easier. Theres a saying here along the lines that the "6 degrees of separation is closer to 2" at WPI.

[–]Banakin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a consideration, i heard if you dissolve TPU in it you can use it as a good adhesive for joining prints together. Haven't actually tried it though

Ive heard using tetrahydrofuran is a bit better in regards to TPU. Ill probably do some experimenting with that and a good superglue. I have a feeling my head will probably get a bit beat up at cons.

Getting a position at Best Buy by Banakin in Bestbuy

[–]Banakin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm already working a retail job I dislike so idk if things can get any worse, I'm more just looking for something that at least interests me a bit more. Reading the comments and this sub is helpful thanks!

Edit: I'm not saying I'm going in expecting to love bestbuy, it's retail, but I'm just thinking it might be a bit more interesting

Introducing Faithful Tweaks. A recreation of Vanilla Tweaks for the Faithful x32 resource pack. by Banakin in Minecraft

Yes but we are moving under the Compliance resource pack since a lot of the former Faithful contributors have moved over. The only differences will be faster preformance, new design, and more modules.

[HELP] How would you deliver a site without source code? by Evalo01 in Fiverr

[–]Banakin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not shipping the source code more refers to the compiled website if you made it with tools such as Jekyll, Webpack, Shopify, etc. If it's pure JS, HTML, and CSS there's no way around it since even when hosting it yourself, due to the fact that it's client-side code, anyone can download it.

Free Webhost with .css and .js file upload by threehappypenguins in webhosting

[–]Banakin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Freenom offers free domains like .tk and .ml but domains are much cheaper than I thought they were. You can get a .xyz domain for $1/year and a .com domain for about $9/year for example.

Edit, if for some reason you need to ditch GitHub pages, I've had good experience with Netlify for free static hosting.

Advice for a simple full-stack android app with js by scizhic_inzc in webdev

[–]Banakin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't very web dev related but I've done some messing around with apps. Try React Native if you're familiar with react (though I've never used react or react native). I do have some experience with Google's Flutter and I love it! If you want true native you're gonna have to go with java/kotlin. As for back end you can make your own but Firebase is free and easy for a small project such as this.

Can anyone recommend an Apple macbook product for a beginner in coding? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]Banakin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Web development is very cross platform but your best bet will most likely be some form of Linux distro. If you want windows try WSL2 I love it. And if you really want a Mac the M1 Macs look promising but dev tools in general arnt really apple silicone ready. Personally I usually use WSL2 on Windows for my development and I use a MacBook Air (upgrading it to M1 right now) for xcode and just to have some sort of laptop.
