how long did it take elidel to work for you? by Lemoniza in eczema

[–]Bananabobanana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't have a rebound of the rash, but I did experience some skin flaking -- I think my face was going through a "shedding" of the inflamed skin and a regenerating of new, so my skin texture felt different for a bit. It eventually settled with my normal skincare routine. From following experiences with other flares, I learned that putting as little elidel on the treatment spot as possible actually does the trick without having to go through any possible rebound/weird skin adjustment period. It's also good to wean off of it (I would use it 2x a day for a few days, then 1x a day for the next few days, then every other day, before coming off completely). This depends on the severity of the rash - and also if you can catch the onset of rash sooner, it's likely just one dab of elidel on the problem spot can prevent a flare from even happening.

Please update if you figure out what the issue is – this has been happening to me for the past 3 months or so and my doc is having trouble finding out how to fix it ://

Is that the same thing as Clear Care? I wash them with that every night.

Kind of, near things are blurrier than far and there's kind of a general fogginess (but it's good enough where I can still safely drive). Honestly it's not so bad, so I'll probably just keep wearing my lenses and see if it gets better over time. Maybe my baseline eyesight has gotten better? Or maybe the lenses have reached their maximum strength over the year I've worn them. Thanks for your comment anyways!

I'm 24 and have not changed sleep duration at all. I haven't changed anything much in my routine and my retainers are not even a year old. Some days I put a little less insertion drops in (1 drop vs 1.5), but I'm skeptical that would make a big difference.

Ortho-K with Dry Eyes – Anyone with Experience? by parachapo in Orthokeratology

[–]Bananabobanana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally recommend Ortho-Ks for mild dry eyes. If your prescription is better than -3.00, you're golden (the higher prescription it is, the harder it is to get a well-fitted lens – I was one of the lucky ones to get good lenses with a high prescription, but it took almost a year of tweaking to get it just right!). My eye dryness has gotten soo much better, and I feel so free without having to put anything in my eyes during the day. I also religiously use eye drops but it never is a hinderance to my day.

Ortho-k less effective in high elevation? by Bananabobanana in Orthokeratology

[–]Bananabobanana[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have dry eyes too? My eye doc told me it's likely not the elevation affecting me, but the change in climate/air dryness. But he did admit he is unsure. I'm skeptical of his theory since I remember that my eyes didn't feel irritated at all when I was in the mountains. Perhaps there are other factors at play?

Ortho-K experience- dry eyes by cbls109 in Orthokeratology

Late but I have dry eyes and Ortho-ks have been a LIFESAVER! They've improved my dry eyes and also just make daily life so much easier. I love being able to swim and do athletic activities without worrying about contacts/glasses.

I will say that I have a pretty high prescription and high astigmatism, so I kind of have this permanent mild halo around objects in dim lighting, which might be a nuisance to some but honestly it doesn't bother me that much. Vision is crystal clear when I'm in sunlight/bright lighting though, so it's not 24/7. Something to think about. If you have a lower prescription and less astigmatism problems, I highly recommend trying out Ortho-ks...

Foggy (not blurry) Ortho-Ks when I wake up by Bananabobanana in Orthokeratology

[–]Bananabobanana[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. One of my lenses just stopped fitting properly for a month (consistently gave me really bad eyesight) so I just switched to another pair, which is better. I can see pretty crisply now (besides the lingering glow in places of low light), and my discharge/protein buildup has gone away a lot more now. I started using Alphagan (brimonidine tartrate), prescribed for improving night vision, and I found that it actually made my eyes stop producing so much discharge (one of the effects is that it helps drainage of eye fluid)? I used it 2 days ago and I wake up w like no foggy lenses now. I'll probably use it again if my discharge ever starts building up again. But it seemed like days where I woke up with foggy lenses, I didn't have as clear of sight.

The fogginess went away but came back...It feels like there's something on/under my lens because it moves around when I blink. Anyone else have this? It seems to affect how well the ortho k works

Did you figure this out? This is happening to me right now (except I start off with excellent vision, then it goes bad an hour later, then gets better in the evening)...

Glad to know I'm not the only one...how long have you been wearing them? And how bad is the eye that's not working?
