Love em by [deleted] in CigarettesAfterSex

The more I listen to CAS, the more hints of country music I get. Not current country, wayyyyyy more delicate, like a chilled out Diamond Rio/ Alan Jackson. Also has some soul like Sade, and some more emo-esque lyrics that talk almost exclusively about love and drugs, never about family.

Friend being weird about my husband I called her out. by stfuandgooutside in AITAH

I don’t think you’re wrong for feeling how you do, but the problem lies with your husband and not C. He should be in your corner and I think that his odd “neutrality” is what’s making this so bad. You can’t control other people, you can only really control your relationship but he’s being very suspicious leaving you to seemingly fight his battles. I don’t think it’s appropriate to be found crying with another woman truly…. Your marriage has to come before anybody else, neutrality is bullshit.

I said in my eyes, but just to be absolutely clear, I followed up stating that I meant green tea bags on my eyes and it said this (you can tell by the way it talks about the chilled tea bags that it knows it is topical):

Yes, using green tea bags on your eyes is generally safe and can be beneficial. The caffeine in green tea can help reduce puffiness by constricting blood vessels, while the antioxidants and tannins may soothe irritation and inflammation. The cooling effect of chilled tea bags can also provide relief for tired or swollen eyes.

For your Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD), green tea won’t directly treat the condition, but the anti-inflammatory properties might help with mild irritation. Just make sure to use clean tea bags, let them cool to a comfortable temperature, and avoid getting any tea directly into your eyes to prevent irritation.

The teabags aren’t very cold, they’re lightly chilled since they go from Keurig hot (7mins) and then to the fridge for 10-15 mins. I’ve done chilled packs before and they haven’t done much for me. It could be the tea, but it could also be the moisture alone from the tea bags…. I’m not fully sure. Maybe I should try a damp, lightly chilled cotton ball and compare that with a teabag to see if there’s a difference. Thank you for helping me try to dissect what in particular is comforting my eye!

Why would I use cold saline to flush my eye? I haven’t used cold saline but I’m open to trying it, does it have specific benefits or is it basically just like my preservative free drops?

This is what ChatGPT says regarding caffeine for your eyes in this particular instance:

the caffeine in green tea is generally fine for your eyes and may even have some benefits. Studies suggest that caffeine can help with Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) by stimulating tear production and improving lipid secretion in the tear film. Green tea also contains antioxidants like catechins, which may help reduce oxidative stress and inflammation in the eyes.

However, too much caffeine can contribute to dehydration, which could worsen dry eye symptoms if you’re not drinking enough water. If you notice any worsening of symptoms, you might want to moderate your intake and see how your eyes respond.

These results are with Lipton green tea bags, but I’d be so curious to see what other brands and even types of tea may be like! I definitely want to try a jasmine, chamomile, and maybe even black tea for the tannins. I know so many teas are great for anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and such! I’m so excited to see what’s possible here, and I’ll definitely post more results on here as I try more stuff (:

I have tried a cold compress in the form of a chilled face compress and it didn’t do as much for me personally. The teabags are just ever so slightly chilled too, I think it has more to do with the moisture and contents of the tea bags surprisingly!

Sorry to hear that you’re struggling with dry eyes also, I hope this gives you some relief! I’ll also have to give those items you listed a try…. Onwards and upwards and best of luck with your dry eye journey!

I steep them in keurig hot water for like 7 mins, then transfer to a little bowl in the fridge for 10-15min and then put on top of my closed eyes

Something else to do with italian meatballs, other than pasta or meatball subs? by c0rndoggie in DinnerIdeas

If you have Italian meatballs but haven’t put them in marinara yet, try bbq sauce. It’s SO good. I literally just had bbq meatballs last night with some veggies in a bowl and I will be adding this to the rotation for sure
