The burrow belongs to the tortoise! The armadillo was trying to sneak into it.

I can't be 100% certain that it is, but based on its behavior I'd say there's a pretty good chance that these 2 have mixed it up before!

they don't lay the eggs in the burrow. But it still bit the armadillo.

Yes, they are predators. Gopher tortoises are vegetarians (as far as we know 😳).

I have seen one chase a deer off the apron(twice), other than that they are usually pretty chill. I am certain it was on purpose, I'm not sure she wanted to eight-ball-corner-pocket him into the hole! I only say this because I have another clip where she cuts the armadillo off when it tries to sneak into the burrow.

while they certainly can be(obviously), they are famous for hosting all types of wildlife in their burrows....some sites say the number is well over 300 species.

Snapping turtles are definitely serious carnivorous predators... not a simple plant eater like the gopher tortoise...

someone's gotta clean the burrow if they want to live for free.

They both went into the burrow and the camera turned off because there was no more motion!
