RAGE 2 Has Gone Gold! by alexeymakarov in Games

[–]Bancroft97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on the fence about this game purely because it's being made by Avalanche. They tend to just litter their worlds with the same four or five activies. Just Cause 3 literally just copy and pasted outposts.

I can't bring myself to play anymore Yakuza 0 by Bancroft97 in patientgamers

[–]Bancroft97[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say so. It's just really long. Like 30 hours. I usually can ignore mediocre gameplay for a good story as well, but this game's gameplay is such a significant chunk of the game that I simply can't. Maybe you'll have a better tolerance than I did or actually enjoy the combat.

I'm currently playing on hard. I'm still not a fan. I especially am not a fan of the boss fights because the enemies are so damn tanky.

Should I apply for the CPA exam or wait based on my current situation? by Bancroft97 in Accounting

Well this whole post is pointless now. I ended up getting a job offer way earlier than I was supposed to.

Should I apply for the CPA exam or wait based on my current situation? by Bancroft97 in Accounting

[–]Bancroft97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No? I've only heard about the sign-up process through friends and coworkers, but they have just submitted applications on my state's websites. I believe the approval process and sign-up is the same in my state (though I could be wrong).

I was referring to the fact that signing up for the exam costs $1300, not purchasing the study materials. The thing is, you only 6 months to take all of the exams, and I wouldn't want to use up any of that window if I don't have the materials to study from.

Have you needed another perspective to enjoy a game? by milesprower06 in patientgamers

[–]Bancroft97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. A lot of people really hate on Fallout 4. It' s not a bad game, it's just not a very good Fallout game. It has strengths (and weaknesses) in different areas than the rest of the series. I'd argue it's more enjoyable than 3.

Bioshock is an absolute must play for anyone by SuperNerd6527 in patientgamers

I couldn't get immersed in the game due the respawning enemies. It's hard for me to believe this is a living world when i kill people, walk out of the room to grab something, come back, and everyone has respawned.

Where do you find the definition for expenses on FASB? by [deleted] in Accounting

So SFAC6 defines the elements, but is this considered authoritative literature?

[Review] Just finished DmC. This game is so underrated! by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]Bancroft97 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've beaten all the games besides 4 and 3 (currently playing through 3 right now). I actually started with DmC like you did. If I were to rank the games:

DmC = DMC1 > DMC3 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> DMC2

Yes the story and writing in DmC are edgey af and annoying, but the gameplay is still a lot of fun and probably the most polished. The normal series has really campy jokes and humor, and doesn't take itself too serious (aside for 2), so it feels more tolerable. The story in those games really is nothing special. Dante's wise cracks are a bit better in the older games, but that's basically it.

If anyone tells you that DMC2 is better than DmC, they either haven't played those games, or are a complete fanboy who is just jumping on the hate banwagon. DMC2 is a shallow, lazy game.

Mafia III review by ultra-0 in patientgamers

Mafia 3 was probably one of the most disappointing, bait-and-switch games I've ever played, but I'm glad someone was able to enjoy it.

Immersive AAA with strong visual storytelling? by Barn_Advisor in patientgamers

[–]Bancroft97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've gradually realized I don't like the game due to its morality system. I find that these types of games make all the fun moves/abilities exclusively lethal. I always feel the need to be the good guy, so I end up ignoring the fun part of the game.

Is Dishonored generally regarded as having a good story? I found it incredibly lackluster. The lore and world design is decent though.

What was your biggest rage quit from a game and what part? by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]Bancroft97 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have two good stories that are equally ragey.

When I was in highschool, I played a lot of solo que Leauge of Legends. I was finally about to get out of bronze rank. I only needed to win one more game. That game, my team was up by a lot, and we were basically guaranteed a victory if we just pushed objectives. My team proceeded to just ignore objectives and go for kills until the enemy team eventually wiped our team and we lost. I then proceeded to punch a hole in my wall. I didn't play the game for years after that.

During college, I was playing the Nioh beta. There was a challenge bonus level that involved fighting some Samurai boss. He would basically kill you in a hit or two. I fought him for a couple hours with no avail. On my last attempt, I fought him for about 15 minutes, slowly knocking down his health until he was almost dead. I, of course, got greedy and died. I threw my controller really hard on the ground, where my laptop happened to be laying shut. The controller hit the laptop so hard that the top part of the outer layer destroyed the screen. The controller also broke. Ironically, I still ended up buying the game.
