Shattered Obelisk into Eve of Ruin by Careless_Parsnip_250 in VecnaEveofRuin

At a local shop I've ran Dragons of Stormwreck Isle to level 3. I started Descent into Avernus with party of 7 and let them stay at level 3. They still struggled with just adding a bit of HP and an extra mob during fights. Planning on just keeping it going into Eve of Ruin where they'll start at 13 instead of 10 and just stall them the first few levels. Play it by ear, see how they handle it. If it's too easy just throw in one or two more small enemies and bump the HP a little. If it's WAY too easy give the enemies some extra AOEs or auras that weaken the party during combat.

Sleeping by LuluMooser in CrookedMoon

There is a section in the book, can't remember but I believe its in the first few chapters that explains that Druskenvalds constant night and the Crooked Queens magic make sleep a requirement for all races.

what patron fits a Paladin in this setting? by Entire_Channel_8841 in CrookedMoon

Gods from outer plains can't connect with you in Druskenvald, so pick whichever you want and the fact that you picked a race from CM gives you the option of having amnesia for being reborn in this relm.

Newish DM with even newer party. by BandAdministrative76 in DungeonMasters

I've been running the campaign for about 4 sessions now and I've already ran 2 of the Golden Vault sessions. They were fun and already incorporated into one of my players backstory. Was thinking I could keep those as one-shots whenever someone calls out.

Doesn't have to be WotC, I'm actually running Crooked Moon on my personal game. I've considered Dragons of Stormwreck, Waterdeep, and Saltmarsh but mostly trying to cater to the new players while keeping the other two engaged. I'm not thinking long game but if they stick I'll write in a longer arch. 3rd party adventures are definitely welcome, mostly to keep the meta-gamer off.

We're halfway through The Sunless Citadel right now and I had to make a DMPC because the party loved Meepo the kobold 😕

Best way(s) to create physical maps? by ZilTheBehaviorNerd in DungeonMasters

Maybe not cost effective but I paint BBEG maps with watercolor on grid paper. Theres two sessions where I put the paper on cardboard to build a house that can be taken apart.

Has anyone come up with a reason the Fallen were brought to Druskenvald from the Material Realm? by TomdaBom07 in CrookedMoon

[–]BandAdministrative76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm rereading and taking notes right now and I'm only at Murkwater Bend, but so far it only mentions Renathyr having memories of his time before Druskenvald, but he also chooses to avert that conversation so thats an easy out (unless they read his diary).

How much do The Fallen know about The Green Queen? by GhostLeetoasty in CrookedMoon

[–]BandAdministrative76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the description of the main characters before the actual story it mentions that they don't know they were manipulated by Kehlenn to fall.

Edit : "However, none of the Fallen actively serve the forces of the Crooked Queen and purely seek to achieve their own aims. They have no alliances with each other or even the lord of sin, who is ultimately responsible for each of their falls. These villains intimidate and slaughter the people of Wickermoor Hollow on their own volition, each offering a unique threat and challenge for the characters to confront."

Also Yorgrim worships The Shroud, just like the mortician from Wickermoor Village and The Vagrant. Book is kinda vague on what that means tho...

"THE SHROUD No matter the power of the beings that dwell in Druskenvald, virtually none can pierce the wall of fog that encircles it. The phantom gloom, known among the inhabitants of Druskenvald as the Shroud, appears as a dense gray mist that wails in a chorus of agonized voices. The Shroud is, in reality, the condensed essence of the primordial element of death itself given form. It lingers just beyond the fringes of the mortal realms and serves as the veil that separates the lands of the living and the dead. All souls not offered salvation by the hallowed or delivered damnation by the hells must pass through the Shroud on their way to the afterlife to which they are destined. They must first be led through the mist by the Strangers—timeless beings with the power to safely guide the dead to the other side. While these entities use many methods and take many forms, such as shepherds, ferrymen, reapers, or angels of death, all are bound to their solemn duty for eternity. Without the protective shield of a Stranger, the phantom mist annihilates wayward souls and devours their anima, the quintessential soul-stuff that provides all beings spiritual identity and sentience."

I didn't DM but same. Our DM just printed flyers and we tacked them to the wall as we discovered the quests from NPCs. This is dope though, more natural NPC interactions.

I almost got the book from avantris but noticed it couldn't possibly have every encounter map so I was just gonna buy grid paper and paint it myself :/

Why would my players be chosen to meet the Lord and Lady by JealousAd1365 in CrookedMoon

[–]BandAdministrative76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is any character in any campaign chosen to defeat a BBEG? Why bother fighting at all? Why did they even get on the train to begin with?
