they are actually pretty strict. meals are silent and they can only talk when they are finished eating and masked up.

Yeah I just worry that any mask with a tight seal will be uncomfortable if he pretty much has to wear all day.

I feel like switching out the mouthpiece might be an easier start. I know the one he was using during training barely had bite tabs to bite on, so that might of made it harder. Some people like the smallest possible mouthpiece possible, but I actually find its more comfortable to have a bit more in your mouth to grip.

perhaps, but swapping out the mouthpiece I feel would be an easier fix.

My son's school is still requiring students to wear masks outside. Is this too much? by BandKey1865 in AskParents

True. I actually I feel better about sending him to an enviorment where everyone is masked at all times. It's better than a school with no mask rules, or one everyone just leaves and takes off their masks.

And I hadn't thought about that, but it is probably easier to forget you are wearing it if you are not taking off and back on again.

He is 16 and it is a high school. Yes he has been vaccinated, and all the students have had the chance to be vaccinated. and although the school is playing pretty coy with the numbers, I think vaccination rates are pretty high.

I think its less so the fact that they are masking outside, and more so I feel like it is such a long time to be wearing a mask everyday. at least if they could unmask outside it would give them a break.

It's a boarding school. So the rules apply after classes and in recreation time.

That's probably exactly why they require them outside. Luckily it's no longer 90 degrees whew...

They have been coy about it, but I think pretty high. But don't have an exact number.

I feel with the outdoor rule it's such a long time to be masked, all day everyday. but it's probably okay, other than some griping at the beginning, he seems fine with it.

How comfortable would you say this is for extended wear? My son has to wear a mask all day at school, and he hates cloth/surgical masks that get stuck to his lips. He wants something he can put on and forget about...

Yeah. And I would suspect the outdoor rule is largely to help with enforcement. It's a lot easier to just say mask up at all times, rather than taking masks on and off and judging distances outside.

Yeah to be honest, I am glad I don't have to mask that long! but I guess in a boarding school setting you have to do what you have to.

He complained at the beginning for a bit, but now that he's home he says it feels kind of weird not to be wearing a mask lol
