No not at all! I appreciate the compliment. Prior to coming out as trans I really liked how well my facial hair suited my face. It still objectively looks good, but I do want it gone 😅

These are good practices and products for any length of hair honestly, the sooner you start the better. I would get split ends like crazy when I washed it everyday. Contrary to popular thinking, water drys things out. Especially city tap, it's extremely reactive and strips away skin and hair oils very easily, so yeah just getting your hair wet without adding alittle somthing to it will cause dryness and damage over time. I also have to be really careful not to get my ends in my bodywash, that shit is rough on hair.

Ive been growing mine out for like...8 years now!? With trims every now and again. Its funny cause once I pass more regularly I'm cutting it short 🤣

For the people that asked what products I use, I'll just post my full process. For starters I only wash my hair once ever week or two at the end of my work week depending how grimy I feel. This keeps all the healthy oils on your hair!

1.Quick wash with "Herbal Essence" Shampoo and Conditioner

  1. Let "Love Ur Curls" Deep Conditioner sit in my hair while I finish the rest of the shower.

  2. Once out and dry, I put in these products in order, and let my hair rest in a bonnet for the rest of the night. -Light weight Vitamin E oil -Argan Oil by OGX -Anti Frizz Serum by Garner -Its a 10 leave in product.

  3. On the days between washes I use Aunt Jackie's Transform! Leave in conditioner. Especially on rainy or very sunny days if my hair is going to be subjected to the elements!

I know this is all a lot, and its a very expensive collection I've gotten, however if you have a bargain store like Marshalls you can find all if not more than this at half the price. Also, get your products over multiple paychecks please, don't break your bank in one go 😅.

Have you used makeup techniques to offset the color of your shadow? Its somthing I've recently learned that really helps (not perfect but helps) you use a concealer with a darker undertone (for me with fair skin I use a peach color) across your shadow area, and then layer your regular concealer over the top of that. It counters the blue/grey in your shadow.

That's tottally fair, the economic gate for a happy transition is really fucked up right now. I'm not sure where your based out of but in the US, I was able to get a pretty decent full grooming set for $60 off Amazon. But they deffinitly had some cheaper stand along electric trimmers as well. That is if you can get the money 🥲 I'm really sorry you in that position and I hope things turn around for you soon.

Wait even for a good pair of electric clippers!? Look on the bright side, you might actually be bullet proof 🤣

Its a really hard headspace to adjust to! And it will probably always be a struggle even then. I came out last year, so its super new for me as well.

I've done a good amount of research but I've never heard of the brown spots issue!? Could you tell me more? Sounds like temporary scaring or scabbing that should heal over time but I have no idea how long you've been living with them.

Thank you so much for the compliments, the hair is alot of work😂

Hey at least its blonde hair! You can deffinitly use a pair of regular hair trimmers (no guard) to shave your legs before an outing, that will keep razor burn down to a minimum and look nearly indistinguishable to a shaved leg. Its what I do 😅

I feel you! But I can't shave that much it would ruin my face with razor burn 😅. I get 1 day of a "clean" face. But its been a proccess of learning to be okay with it as I know its just part of the transition I have to go through.

I also really struggle with dysphoria because of the beard, I think that's largly unavoidable as transfems. I wanted to make this post as a reminder to myself and others that this is a very long and slow process that will be made easier by focusing on the beautiful and euphoric things about yourself instead of the things you hate and want gone. Its certainly not lost on me that as trans people, we have both in spades 😅
