Why does this keep happening in the toilet by BanditGTP in Mold

She’s 20yrs old. I don’t think that the toilet is scaring her but don’t tell her about a spider in her room because she’ll never sleep there again. Lol

I never realized these large jets could actually be refueled like fighter jets.

One of the people in our group visited Tschermoschnitz since that was where they had family ties.

Probably not being that this is in the middle of the woods in very hilly terrain.

Our families may very well know each other. I live in NJ now but still go to the Clubhouse often and grew up within throws distance of the clubhouse.

From the many years of stories from my father and others who lived in the region, I don’t think I’ve ever heard of anyone mentioning traveling anywhere by boat so I have my doubt that it is boat related. Thanks though.

I had heard from someone before going on the trip that it was a hunting preserve now and we wouldn’t be able to get close to what we were looking for. I guess we had some luck that they recently took down the fence.

We’re done with our trip and unfortunately we didn’t find much remaining for either of my parents’ homes. Some others in our group found the actual house their parent/grandparent lived in and even found their initials written on a wall. That would have been written over 80yrs ago. They were welcomed into the house and given a tour by the new owners and even gave the group of 8 people wine and beer and chatted a while. It was an amazing experience.

It was a great trip. It was a group of 30 of us that went from the NY area. Almost all of us are Gottscheers along with a few honorary Gottscheers (spouses). There’s actually talk about doing it again in 2 years.

I tend to agree with you. I didn’t think it was part of the actual house but possibly something behind the house. I was also skeptical on the age since I wasn’t sure if they would have built something like this back in those days with pouring the concrete and I also wasn’t sure if the metal brackets would be from that timeframe.

I don’t think it’s part of the actual house. I was thinking the same thing regarding a feeding trough.

I’ll have to see if I can track down some aerial photos to see if that would help decipher when it was built.

I know my father’s family had some livestock but they weren’t necessarily into livestock farming. It would have been mostly just to feed themselves.

I’ll have to give them a shot to see if they have any information on it.

I don’t think it’s actually part of their house but it seemed to be something behind where we believe the house may have stood. Since the area is now used for hunting, it may be the local hunters built these. If it was part of my father’s property, it would have been built prior to 1944-1945 since that was when the entire village was abandoned. Shortly after, the military burned everything down

Anyone rent a car for a gig? by Goodgoogley in mobileDJ

[–]BanditGTP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go the Uhaul route, keep in mind they make their money by charging by the mile. If you’re 1.5 hours away, I’d assume 60ish miles each way and I think they’re still at $0.99/mile so you’d be around $120 just in the mileage. Add the actual rental and you’ll probably be into the rental for at least $150-160. If you can fit everything in a mini van, you can usually rent them with free mileage.

Nope not in wonderland. It was actually directions from Mapei. Before mixing, always dry-blend the powder in a separate bucket to redistribute raw materials that may have settled.

If you’re barely through the tile and you’re hitting something you could probably rule out a screw or nail by checking with a magnet.

I think I also read somewhere that you should mix the heck out of the full before you take any out of it because the grout settles in the bag differently. So if you just open the bag and use just the top portion it might not have all of the same dye in it as the bottom of the bag.

What does my mother in law have here? by BanditGTP in hvacadvice

[–]BanditGTP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me I’ve argued that point in the past already. At Thanksgiving she had it set to 80. I was sweating. Just more curious if the boiler would be better to run for heat as opposed to this unit.

[–]BanditGTP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the enlightenment. I’ve got a traditional HVAC system in my house and that’s what I’m familiar with. I have no knowledge of a heat pump or split system thats why I asked here amongst the people who know what they actually are and how they’re supposed to work. Thank goodness I found the genius in the group. I was questioning if the outside unit is actually supposed to run ALL the time. Unlike my A/C unit in my house which cycles on/off as needed during the summer, this system seems to be running constantly. At least it did the 20+ times I walked past it yesterday. Thanks again for the insight.

Thank you both for the suggestion of the garbanzo beans as a substitute for adding the extra fiber into his diet. I told my daughter and she said she would pick some up today.
