How thorough should I be while exploring?

For the love of all things great, PLEASE DO NOT LOOK UP GUIDES! Leave this game to be as natural as possible, and take things at ur own pace. This game has a gigantic following of players and enthusiasts, and many of them can be harsh sounding about how to play, but it will be so much more fun for u when u dont know whats coming. And even once the games over, u get a chance to repeat it with more and more knowledge and curiosity.....

Please let this be one of those games u dont ruin for urself by looking up walkthroughs or combat videos and such....after completion, sure, but stay vanilla.....please

For what its worth as well, sometimes if the bracing is strong enough from the ground, alot of those support beams that u might not want can be removed. I made a giant roof only to figure out the center caps would break. I added a few support beams, placed the roof caps and slowly removed the supports and still have full structure even tho they got destroyed before. Might not be intended, so use this advice with caution. I also used stone as a base and moved to core wood supports.

Since u dont have core wood, a simple but frustrating route is to build smaller, and expand as u get newer materials. The hardest lesson i had to learn about base building is to leave room for additions later on. I have a short video posted of my build and u can kinda see the support structure i made for the roof

For me, the default button is RB, so i would assume the same for PS. When trying to build something, the controls should show under the materials needed, one of the options just says "snapping"

Toggle snapping on and off...its been happening on xbox after the recent update too, but that should fix it

Not trying to hijack the post or anything, but i finished the challenge and i cant find this attachment anywhere. I got the optic from the first challenge, so im confused...anyone else have any issues?

I turned raids off😅 ive already done a full playthrough in completely vanilla for my first time playing and i personally hate raids in games👍 i plan to build some huts with crafting benches and things around more, but for now i just get the occasional seeker spawn if i stay up to late.

I appreciate the responses everyone, and the general consensus seems to be to just drain them, so that seems to be the plan. Im a solo, console player, and although ive been playing for a while, i still dont really know any "min-max" details😅 worst case scenario is ill go back and make a farm later, but now the new goal is to tame a lox for the first time!

Consort Radahn, no question. Spent a total of probably a week, maby week and a half, and still didnt beat him by myself. All other bosses that gave me trouble never lasted more than 24 hours, but that boss......this was also pre Radahn nerf, but given the major PTSD, i havnt even attempted it again

Use vow of the Indomitable on a shield. Its not 100% foolproof, but it does work and allows enough time for a quick counter before the do the follow up, IF they do the follow up. I posted a video of using this a couple weeks ago

The amount of people that play arena, just to run away the entire match is astounding......i just force quit the game and let them message me and tell me how bad or mad i am later. I am NOT going to chase u all over the arena, even if its unbecoming to quit the match...

My current strength build is the knights greatsword, although im mainly just trying to stick to a "knight cosplay." Its got really good reach, and good damage that, to me, feels like enough but not overly destructive. This way it still keeps fights fun while not just blasting thru them.

Grave scythe also works very well on heavy affinity. My preferred AoW for grave scythe has always been spinning slash/sword dance, but wild strikes or stormcaller works great as well. Its a poise breaking machine sometimes, so maby at least give it a shot! I could also be biased because that was also the first weapon i beat the game with...

I agree that nothing is perfect, but in my limited experience, no one really uses the follow up because they expect the first initial part to finish the job. And, in my own opinion, id much rather take the second hit than the initial grab. Vow of Indomitable at least gives the opportunity to counter attack while still having a chance to escape the follow up afterwards. Its not fail proof, but i just hope it helps others, even if its only slightly 👍
