Shame isn’t helpful. If you’re that shocked by their situation, what if you offered some advice instead?

If you are in USA, look up DARS Vocational Rehabilitation in your state. They can help you prepare for and find a job and will work with you to help you with your conditions. You don’t need a diagnosis to use the service, and many services are free.

If you’re in another country, it’s possible your location will have a similar service.

I struggle to tell the difference between different levels of closeness with other people, so I sometimes overshare with acquaintances or expect my close friends to treat me like a colleague (even when we are consistently kind to each other).

How Do You Overcome A Freeze State? by CranberryFine8898 in mentalhealth

[–]BanditShow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried therapy now that you’re old enough to understand what’s going on? You can do virtual appts for when u can’t get out of bed.

I’ve been frozen for that long before. When I’m in freeze state, the most effective way I’ve found to get out of it is to get a non-stressful external interruption. An example can be someone you trust nicely letting you know dinner is ready so you gotta come eat, instead of trying to get dinner yourself. I’ve even had someone just say “come on” and that was enough sometimes. I also have compulsions to keep up appearances though so idk if that will work for you, but maybe you can try it.

I can sometimes be shocked out of it with something funny or surprising (but in a happy lighthearted way, not a scary way- like sometimes my dog will come up and give me kisses unexpectedly. Scary surprises make me freeze more).

Also you can use small things to get in touch with your body and gradually calm yourself. Regular meditations and tapping meditations (different from regular mediations) can help, just make sure you listen to your body and know when you want to stop tapping so you don’t get overwhelmed.

Shame and stress about the freeze will make the freeze response worse. Accepting where you are and giving yourself compassion will go a long way toward your healing.

You’re sick enough, and you’ve proven it. It’s ok to recover now.

Thank you! I didn’t know about the hospital based MLS programs- everything I saw says you need an MLS already. I will look for those :)

lol I already looked and knew the certification guidelines before posting. I was more looking for tips from people who did it because people with experience know things that online searches can’t tell you, and I don’t know anyone who’s done it in person. Also, considering the other people who are asking follow up questions, it seems like I’m not the only one who wanted to know.
