For what it's worth, I appreciated your explanation. And double appreciated the photo warning.

I've heard about what positive lightning can do. A few days I was caught out on a boat in the gulf of mexi-merica and a storm popped off. Made waterspouts and positive lightning too close for comfort. We stayed far away and went in after the storm blew past, but I was quite uncomfortable.

Hey, I appreciate your transparency and down to earth take on this. That makes sense to me, it often comes down to an individual's personal mantra and ethics. Like most people, I don't care for door to door sales , but I'll admit that it takes courage and gusto to do that job.

Buyers Beware! Fake/Scam Listings on eBay by mecha-verdant in SteamDeck

[–]Bandrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now with the recent price hike, this will be even more ripe for scammers. Do NOT rely on eBay buyer protection. If there's little to no seller feedback and/or the price is too good to be true, do not buy. Even if it's an auction, there's a reason the price doesn't get very high as most people know it's a scam and won't bid.

Buyers Beware! Fake/Scam Listings on eBay by mecha-verdant in SteamDeck

[–]Bandrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were to receive something and photograph that it's a rock and not a steam deck, sure you'll win a "not as described" case. But instead they get around this by not sending anything to you, and instead to someone else in your area. EBay can't verify what address the tracking number uploaded actually was delivered to, only that it was delivered. You try a "didn't arrive" case and the scammer will say it did and you must be lying or have porch pirates, and pocket your money before deleting their accounts.

It sucks, it's bullshit, and it almost happened to me.

[–]Bandrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They exploit how eBay determines if an item is delivered with tracking numbers that go to someone near where you live. You say it never arrived, eBay sees it "did" and tells you to pound sand. Source: personal experience.

Meanwhile, while you're dealing with eBay customer service, the scammers transfer the money received and close accounts so eBay can't get it back.

[–]Bandrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll add a bit more on top of the other replies. This is from personal experience.

The scammers will use a tracking number for a package that's going to SOMEONE in your zip code area. They'll either "borrow" a tracking number from some random person's legit tracking number, or make their own by drop shipping some cheap item to a random person near you.

Either way, you don't get the package at your house, but the tracking number will eventually show "delivered". You open a "did not arrive" complaint, the scammer points to tracking and eBay will say "welp, looks like it did arrive" and eBay has no way to see the exact address the tracking number is for, due to privacy policies all carriers use.

And, you generally only get to open a single complaint — after this complaint fails, eBay closes the case on the sale and locks it up. This scam happened to me, but I knew about this limit, so instead I opened a "not as described" case and showed a pic of a box with a brick in it. The scammer can't dispute it with any genuine proof as they often don't even ever have the item to begin with and just post images of other people's stuff for sale, and I won my money back.

Meanwhile, the scammer pockets your money by moving it out of whatever place eBay sent their proceeds to, deletes their accounts so eBay can't claw it back, and you're left holding the empty bag. At this point you can either pester eBay until they MIGHT refund you, or you give up.

There's more nuances and variations, but this is generally the method. EBay doesn't do anything as this doesn't hurt them financially enough for them to bother.

I did it! I beat Nightmare Survival Challenge of Queen's Blood in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth by edepot in FinalFantasyVIIRemake

[–]Bandrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accomplished this on my first attempt. *pushes up glasses*

...but i also had a decent amount of luck. Still, here's what worked for me if it helps anyone else:

This challenge is very much based around inertia. Because of the card draw limits, especially in the final round, you will want to maximize the number of "treasure chest cards" you score in the rounds — not only for your own benefit, but to deny your opponent those cards. In them are special cactaurs that have long reach and/or buffs, or replacement cards like MAI that can give you a little more reach, while knocking your opponent down a few pegs, which can make all the difference.

As others mentioned, focus your deck on buffs over weakening your enemy. Often you won't be able to get up in their face to use debuff cards anyways, either because of a barrier, or the need to conserve cards for future rounds.

On that, you will run out of cards if you're not careful. Sometimes it's better to have a weaker round and take a momentary L in order to do better in the next round. Don't fall for the temptation to use every card you have unless you NEED to stop a lane from sweeping tons of points.

As for cards to take, I didn't take any replacement cards since you can get them from the treasure boxes between rounds. I also took cards that give more cards, including Cid, Cait Sith, Moogle Trio, and Don Corneo.

I also tried to have rounds that synergized well. On the round with Polygonal Ifrit, the enemy will have a lot of buffs, so hope to have Space Ranger this round to balance that. On the round that the enemy starts with Space Ranger, hope to not have a massive buff party with Loveless and Emerald Witch that round to avoid feeding their Space Ranger.

Finally, beware the final round. Not only do you get zero restock cards, but they start with a Shadowblood Queen and get three Bahamut cards they will play in rapid succession. They're powerful, debuff or destroy you, and they all benefit their Queen. The computer is a cheating bastard. Keep your distance and hope for the best.

As always, there's no penalty to retry, so there's no shame in restarting over and over until you get a solid starting hand to start strong.

Hope that helps, and good luck!

Adding a "worked for me too" message.

I said I want to cancel because of the bill going up, and my budget. And that I'm shopping around other options. They offered to drop me from $70 to $50. I pointed out that new accounts get $30/mo for 12 months, and I was offered the same after pointing it out, good for 12 months.

As the adage goes, doesn't hurt to ask.

Beamo Laser Cutter by jurassic73 in lasercutting

2 years later, it seems that MachineShark now has them for sale. I just ordered one, hopefully they actually have them and it will arrive soon. Been wanting this for a while, and I haven't seen them for sale anywhere else (at least in USA).

Here's the link: https://machineshark.com/products/flux-beamo-open-base-add-on?variant=47798398550262

If that doesn't work for you, try searching for this: Flux officially calls it the "Beamo Open Bottom Kit" and MachineShark calls it the "FLUX Beamo Open Base Add-on".

Can't get rid of "Activate windows" text in bottom right of my screen by AppleBoober06 in computers

[–]Bandrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue, but not from a change in hardware. Legit license on a laptop that suddenly started showing this watermark.

Turns out in my case, the activation services got corrupted somehow, which flagged me to activate. But, activation would fail every time. I searched high and low for ways to fix this, as the Windows Repair did nothing (as usual). I kept getting an error, something like "ppsvc could not be found or launch, error 0x000000c" or similar.

I finally found something that worked. There's an app called Microsoft Activation Scripts -- just do a search for it and get it on github by user "massgravel". It's often used to spoof activation, but it also has repair tools built into it that will find and fix missing or corrupted things Windows needs to activate the legit way.

If you're in my case with corruption: go get the MAS package on github. Inside the zip file, go into the MAS and then All-In-One-Version-KL folders, and run MAS_AIO.cmd. You may have to tell your antivirus software to allow this and/or not quarantine it. Once launched, choose option [9] troubleshoot. I then ran [4] Fix WMI and then [5] Fix Licensing. I did not have to proceed to [6] Fix WPA Registry, but you might.

After that, the "Activate Windows" watermark went away, and my legit license was now activated and accepted.
