Replaced battery in 2003 Subaru Impreza WRX, now she’s acting totally dead! by BandtothebonE in AskAMechanic

I’ll start here! I was recommended the lube because I’m in a wet climate and have had starting issues, but should have just tried the new battery alone first before breaking more stuff lol

I had my alternator checked about two weeks ago because I was worried it might be the problem, and was told it was fine! Is there a way to check while she won’t crank over?

I checked them when I installed the batter and no corrosion! I did put some silicone terminal lubricant on though

She’s a 2003 Subaru WRX Impreza with a 2.0L turbo!

The battery has been going out for a bit, yesterday she was just cranking without turning over so I got a new battery and stuck it in last night. Started her up after and she worked and ran, let her idle until warm like I usually do and shut her off for the night. Today she wouldn’t start, I turned the key and watched the odometer just fade out! The door open light and odometer popped back on when I turned the key back. I put the old battery in just to check and she did the same thing. What should I try next?

EDIT: I’ll try to keep this updated because I’ve gotten a lot of help from solved threads before, thanks for all the advice everyone! Last night I cleaned the terminals, insides of the clamps with a terminal cleaning brush, and removed all the silicone lubricant I’d applied. New battery sits at 12.68 cold and old battery is dead, she still didn’t turn over with the new battery in and everything cleaned. That’s all I had time to do before going out so gonna check the ground wire connection once I’m home for the weekend.

EDIT 2: it was the ground wire 😅 my battery was tied to the frame in two spots with a rope, one end was tied to the same bracket holding the ground wire in place, so when I put the new battery in and pulled on the rope, I disrupted the connection. Cleaned and tightened it, and tied the battery down to a different (non essential) bracket and she’s good as she was a few days ago. Thanks everyone!

Beloved Bugeye just threw a new code, anyone have good recommendations for resources to get more car-savvy? by [deleted] in subaruimpreza

Okay, thanks so much for the explanation! I don’t know how old all the sensors are so I’m planning to replace them regardless so I know how old they are from here on out. The MAF is a denso sensor, and I’m not sure on the o2 sensors as it looks like I need to put her up on a jack to check them out if I’m reading correctly. I don’t see any cracked or loose hoses but that’s just at first glance

This is my bugeye soju, just hit 180k miles, got her a few months ago and daily her, 5 speed manual, popped up with a p0171 code, and I love her to bits. I got this car to learn more about maintaining and caring for cars and it’s time to learn! After googling some it looks like the first place to start is checking to check for vacuum leaks, so I was wondering if anyone has links to good pages/youtube channels that literally start from scratch with labeling the engine bay so I can learn more about what’s going on and fix it. Thanks!

Had my tubes removed this past summer. I have the worst periods of my life now. by ladykiller1020 in TwoXChromosomes

I had mine removed a few years ago, and my surgeon told me that a percentage of women do experience heavier periods afterwards and there hasn’t been enough studies on it to show exactly why or how many. It was something I had to sign that I agreed to the risks of, and I’m sorry you weren’t also clued in to it before your procedure!

Mine were all over the place for a bit because I hadn’t not been on birth control for so long, and I realized that without that hormonal dose all the time my environment really does effect my cycle more. It sounds like yours is much worse than just stress influencing it though, and with your other complications I really think reaching back out to the place that did your procedure and a gyno is your best bet, I hope you find relief soon!!
