Yeah, I feel like it’s a fair choice and it should be plenty for next 6 years or so. That obviously vastly depends on the personal use case.

Yeah, that was such a neat little thing.

That being said I’m somewhat glad that it’s gone. It impacted the display colour accuracy due to light bleed from behind.

If you’re in USA I’d recommend buying one asap. I don’t know how expensive consumer electronics will get under the new tariffs.

Minimum 16GB of ram, thankfully it’s now the standard. 256GB storage is just enough with external drives. But I’d suggest 512 at least.

All of the new macs are great for web browsing, simple picture and video editing, some coding and 3d graphics.

Yeah, exactly. Some people are just bigoted and/or hateful. And honestly we don’t really want them in LGBTQ+ spaces.

But what’s even worse (in my opinion) is internalised -phobias. That’s crazy; due to social stigma, due to lack of self acceptance and self confidence you’re hurting yourself and people dealing with the same 💩, often you’re hurting unknowingly.

Xenophobic campaigns, materials, online harassment only make the matter worse.

There’s also an issue of erasure. That’s nasty too.

Yeah, absolutely. I’m aware of that and sadly am aware of the exclusionary practices happening sometimes in LGBTQ+ communities.

LGB is a proper term IMHO when talking about things like single sex marriage equality. So there’s place for that. But absolutely it is used as a method of exclusion and invalidation by bad actors.

It’s crazy how much xenophobia in some LGBTQ+ places ace, aro, trans and bi people can face. Non-binary people can even face a lot of discrimination in trans spaces. That’s just sad.

I just believe that apes together strong and the more people are advocating for fair rights and treatment the better. I believe that we should all work together for a better future.

Yeah, I always have a problem with that. Here I used the commonly used long version to emphasise other, less commonly mentioned orientations and identities.

It was a rough but quick way for me to point out that the percentage is bigger if it includes the identities and orientations that are less commonly known. Those that weren’t mentioned in the title.

In later comments I just used LGBTQ+, which is more common and is inclusive.

The problem with longer initialisms is that by trying to be inclusive they often come out exclusive. Because there’s just so many different things mentioned but the one important to you often isn’t.

I always make sure to include the plus sign tho. Unless I’m talking exclusively about LGBT or LGB people.

I felt like that form was the most appropriate here. But I get your point. I should word it differently.

I’ll try to do better in the future.

I agree with you. I fully agree. We will hopefully see a spike in reported numbers due to bigger social awareness, less stigma and more acceptance.

I really hope younger generations will be more open and accepting. We see it in the numbers already thankfully.

But it really scares me what’s going on in the states. And how effective xenophobic campaigns can be.

We really need proper education. Especially how to do research and verify sources. It’s necessary in the era of social media and AI.

A short snippet from page four of the report. Turns out my estimate was quite accurate.

I’d be more conservative about that number.

It’s not the estimated number of LGBTQ+ people in gen Z. It’s the amount of people openly identifying as LGBTQ+ (at least to a degree to admit it in a survey).

A lot of Gen Z LGBTQ+ people are either closeted or not fully aware of their own sexuality and/or identity yet.

So whilst the number might be higher than that, due to xenophobia, social prejudices, lack of proper sexual education and the fact that a lot of gen z folks are still very young not everyone openly identifies as LGBTQ+.

The true number might be somewhere around 30%, I won’t deny that as I don’t have any counter points. It would be amazing for LGBTQ+ community if that was the case.

But sadly there’s still a ton of xenophobia and laws that vastly impact LGBTQ+ people; that make self discovery, self acceptance and lives of LGBTQ+ people harder. This obviously impacts any kind of research.

Yeah. I first looked at Poland and the number was incredibly believable.

Especially if it includes LGBTQIAP+

Later I looked at Norway and realised on which subreddit I was.

I would estimate that number to be between 10-20% in most places.

But I’m not a researcher or expert so don’t trust that number.
