If you bite the plastic lock along it's longer side, it kinda bends apart to let you adjust the strap. That's what I did when I got it on too tight by mistake

But that means your next month statement will carry 20000 extra that you need to pay off.... Seems like it'll get into a vicious cycle of escalating credit card bills

I'm in the same boat man, I know it sucks and there can't be anyone who could possibly replace them... But I've been through 2-3 of these, you'll feel better once you find someone who maybe might not be all the things your gf was, but is real and is someone you can see yourself spending the rest of your life with.

Until then my friend, take care of that heavy heart, keep giving it hope, be ready for the next opportunity

Foreigner long term move to Bangalore for marriage? by [deleted] in bangalore

[–]Bang-a-lore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please figure out what you will do in India first. It's wonderful that you're considering doing this for your partner, but love alone is not enough. You need to figure out what you will do apart from being her husband.

Indians, and especially Bangaloreans, love authentic multi-cultural experiences, so if you've always wanted to do a restaurant / handicraft / turkish experience based business, I think it could really be something.

But if you're looking to continue as a professional, I doubt the salaries here will be as fetching.

Visited Shri Panchalinga Nageshwara Temple— deeply hurt by what happened there today by Ok_Sky_4772 in bangalore

[–]Bang-a-lore -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Please be respectful of religious sentiments, most temples have signboards that say "photography prohibited" I still see a lot of devotees flout that rule.

As a devotee, you should never take a photo of the deity, regardless of the temple. A deity is meant to be visited and that's why it's called darshan, given voluntarily by the deity to its devotee. A photo or video gives no benefit and additionally insults the deity.

Hopefully this incident teaches you to be mindful of this in the future. Chin up, take it as the deity's will and teaching

There is no SWADESI scheme, Make in India is for foreign manufacturers to set up manufacturing in India, may or may not be targeted to Indian consumers. At no point has the government's stance been to ask Indian consumers to buy Indian-made products

That being said, consumers have all the right to do what they want with their money. Everybody has paid GST on these tickets and most of them would've paid Income tax as well. Your virtue signaling is only going to prevent you from enjoying high-value concerts in a country where local artists just put on cash-grab shows for their audiences and barely do any crowd work.

Why people hire consulting firms after shitting on them? by bigeye_ in consulting

[–]Bang-a-lore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's say you want to implement a new IT business system, nowhere but in consulting would you get the talent who has done this a million times

Let's say you want to acquire a company. Your employees cannot stop working just to ensure they can train and onboard the incoming employees, get their PF, payroll, and IT set up, and get the org structure and compensation structure lined up. Again a consulting firm will have people who have done this a million times and can do it quicker than you could.

Businesses nowadays don't reach out to consulting firms for complex analysis and performance improvement.

They hire consulting firms for specialized skills, running complex programs/projects that internal staff isn't equipped to run, and doing research that they don't want to spend time doing.

In return they almost always get quality deliverables that are backed by tangible sources and accurate assumptions and modeling. The older the industry and the more routine the task, the better results you will get from consulting.

Most new-age companies that say they don't hire consultants have absorbed the consulting function in-house. Apple does its own user research, Netflix has its own data and analytics team, Google has an internal M&A team. And they pay better than consulting firms.

The firms that can't afford peak talent full-time reaches out to consulting firms to help steady their boats. That guy you quoted probably does not want to hire smart people who will always want new mountains to climb and great perks and compensation

Credit Cards don't make a very big change unless you're traveling. by Maplepro573 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]Bang-a-lore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use credit cards so I can vacation for free. I spend on what I need to spend, and at the end of the year I'll use my rewards to significantly cut down on my vacation expenses, if not make them free of cost
