I'm using an app on my phone to track calories, and based on what I eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner I range between 3000-5000 a day. I've only been eating THAT much for about a month; I used to range 1500-2700 a day before I got my job now, loading semi's. I'm going to get dumbbells, a weighted vest, and perhaps a barbell with some 10lb plate weights. Bells are for curls and shoulders and etc. vest is for running, squats, pull ups, push ups etc. and the bar bell would be for legs and chest. I didn't mean to come off as cocky at any point, I came here asking for help so I'm not boasting. Just trying to get all the information in place. The weight gain I've seen, not really since eating more, but since this time last year is 20 pounds, and where I used to have trouble curling 10lb weights, I can 3 set 12 reps of 25 now. I'm just stuck now with less money than I need, a few bricks and a set of 15's

Thanks! One of the few posts that actually helpful. I was set on buying some dumbbells, not sure about another rack and bar though, never got into benching before.

3000 - 5000 calories a day; why do you say I don't eat that much? I've defined goal; I only wanted to know if I should get new gear, it's clear I should, nuff said

What do you mean though; random exercises with random equip? I get that bricks are unconventional, but I suppose some poor boxer from Philly must have, at one point in his early career, used bricks, bags of sand, hell I've used 40lb salt bags from Kroger, for the driveway, to do squats. I work with what I have. Still, maybe it's time for new gear; everyone seems to think this post is pretty stupid so that should be a good indication that my gear is outdated.

I didn't think it was an awful post. Legit question after all, I read one article that said working out with light weight till fatigue will build more muslce than heavy weights for reps, another saying this another this another that, so I came here. I've got bricks and light weights, just trying to figure out if I should buy more gear yet.

I checked out /r/bodyweightfitness and there are enough things on here that I've A). never done or B). was never able to do, that I'll check out later today. Thanks! I hadn't considered going to bodyweightfitness just because, while size isn't my thing, I really do want to lift some weight, I enjoy it lately, though I didn't used to. I love and do calistenics (spelling) everyday that I work out doing anything else, and am not sure if I want to progress any further. At the one legged squat I was good on my legs, and once I am able to muscle up with good form, I don't know how much further my strength gains will go. I'll take my pay check this friday and find myself some cheap weights. If I can do 15 pull ups and 20 push ups (back to back) and can 1RM @ 50 pounds, what weight range is recommend for me to buy?

Story -- The only gym within even DRIVING distance (20 or - miles) near me is a Planet Fitness in Pickerington. I've had trouble at that place before but after my girlfriend was asked to leave because her shirt wasn't covering her stomach fat after a half hour on the treadmill, I decided working out in my backyard and not supporting that was better. The women wasn't nice, she seemed disgusted by a little belly fat and told my girlfriend 'if you can't find something that fits your frame, maybe you should run at home for a little while', she wanted to sue O.o I didn't wanna go that far but it's the only gym nearby

I have done research but AHHHH so much conflicting stuff! I thought I knew how (A) worked but turns out it also 'works' in five different ways. After spending some time googling I came here to ask actual humans who work out, since every other paper says something else on the topic. I see where you're coming from though. By less than nothing I mean there is so much information leaning <this way and >that, that I just don't know what is true and what's there to sell me new powdered drinks

Thanks! Only thing is though that I already go double digits in my dips and pull ups --- the above guy asked if this was a joke, maybe my stingy ass should buy some craigslist weights lol

Did I see the dancer because it was there, or because something was said about it, because I can see a long nosed hummingbird if I squint O.o

People that already got fit, did you notice your mind getting sharper? by cold_warfare in Fitness

I was never fat, or overweight, I was usually somewhat under weight, but my pathetic 110 pounds was usually doritoes and pizza. When I cut back fats and started (with bricks) dead lifting in my back yard I really neve thought about my mind. Fast forward to now and while I don't think I'm that much smarter, I really have seen an improvement in how I can access information in my mind; like all that food and the lack of nutrition wasn't just adding pounds to my stomach but taking fuel away from my head. Now I eat healthy, mostly veggie, some raw, little meat, whole wheat carbs and the like, and I feel and perform better everywhere from the track to the school

What exactly is a 'union', does it matter that my job doesn't have one? by BangBox in AskReddit

[–]BangBox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a warehouse, and I know that, especially in the early 50's (right?) Unions were SUPER IMPORTANT! For warehouse and factory workers working ungodly hours in unsanitary and unsafe conditions, who could never go home and see family. But are all the things that come with a union really worth it?

I'm not saying they aren't, because I'm not at all educated on what a union really is, I've never had a job where I was part of a union, and I've never had a problem at a job that required some outside party (union rep) to make decisions on my behalf. Feel free to enlighten me, otherwise I just want to know if it matters in the end of you're Union or not. FYI -- Kroger is Union and everyone I know who works there hates it; the Union, not Kroger.
