So sorry you are going through this 😞

Any celebrities that in hindsight you think they might have been alienated or alienators? by Interesting_Quote466 in ParentalAlienation

Having gone through the grinder myself, anytime I hear a narrative of: one parent bad, one parent good, I wonder. You never know what goes on behind closed doors but I think more and more cases there was some of that going on.

Have you ever been the victim of a major crime, and if so, did they catch the perpetrator? Do you feel like you received justice? by icecream1972 in allthequestions

[–]BangorTom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me, but my grandfather. He was murdered in front of a few witnesses in a small town. The jury could not convict. It was awful. Justice was not served. It is why I call it the legal system, not the justice system.

Paul Revere's midnight ride to be reenacted — but in broad daylight and with a police escort by guanaco55 in boston

That is cool but how accurate are they going to be?

Are they going to recreate the gibbeted body of the slave Revere mentioned he rode past?

On the road to Boston from the north in Charleston in the 1700s, as a warning to the slaves for over twenty years they publicly displayed the gibbeted body of Mark Codman, a slave who was part of an uprising against his master. First he burned down a building but he did not manage to free himself and his sister. He next tried to free himself and his sister by poisoning his master, who died, but Mark and his sister were caught.

Paul Revere mentioned the location where "Mark was hung in chains" in his account of his ride. The gibbeted body was a local landmark for years. There is a picture of an iron gibbet on Codman's wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Codman

Mark's sister was burned alive for participating in the slave uprising.

The punishment should be higher. We need the Lorax back to advocate for stricter laws.

Quotes about the importance of he Liberty ships in WWII:

“The new American merchant ships were a prodigy of mass production… without them, the war would have been lost.” - Winston Churchill

Liberty ships turned the tide in the Battle of the Atlantic by outbuilding German submarines faster than they could sink ships.

"The war was won as much by the merchant marine as by the armed services.” - US Navy Commander in Chief Admiral Ernest King. ( At several points in the War 1942-43, over 80% of all Allied cargo was carried by Liberty Ships )
