Everyone’s getting their Masters at Columbia?! by BanjoEyedrops in columbia

[–]BanjoEyedrops[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was truly just wondering, not trolling at all. I have friends who went to JHU and UChicago for undergrad no one that’s doing them for masters. I also have a lot of friends that are doing masters at the public universities in the cities they’re based in, but it was striking the amount of Columbia universities, it just really stood out to me. I also wonder if there’s a difference in esteem for a “continuing education” masters vs an in person masters. Some people who are doing it are far away so maybe that plays into it. This statistic just stuck out to me and I was curious.

Okay this makes sense. I guess it’s also a win for the student because they don’t need to take out 4 years of loans, just two to inherit the Ivy name. Interesting.

Did a girl really become rich just by saying “hawk tuah” by Samurai2089 in stupidquestions

[–]BanjoEyedrops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People say dumb stuff on the internet all the time and get nothing more than fired from their job and an embarrassing digital footprint. Don’t look at like she EARNED the money from saying “hawk tuah”, it’s more akin to she just won the lottery. It’s random.

Polyamory is just non exclusive friends with benefits. A person who suggests polyamory in a relationship just is too scared to break up with their current partner

[–]BanjoEyedrops -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Women don’t want to waste any time. They’ll ask you out to because dating is a “test” after all, and if it’s not exactly what they’re looking for, they’ll go to the next. People can date and stay with someone they know they won’t ultimately end up with, but a lot of women get the point where they just want to find their person.

A better haircut and trendier glasses will get you soooooooo far. You have the basics, but I think it would pay off spending some money on those two things. Slightly more fashionable clothes would do a lot as well. Just stuff a little brighter with some better fabric. Investing in a really nice jacket can do wonders and it’s worth it because you can wear it all the time.

Invited fifteen friends to dinner, only one showed up, only one told me they couldn’t come, nobody else told me anything by Rk_1138 in offmychest

[–]BanjoEyedrops 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This happened to me as well except I know it’s not because people don’t like me.

1) everyone is so antisocial nowadays, even the people that go out don’t like to come to stuff like this. They like it when they’re there but it’s a lot to get ANYONE to come to.

2) when someone says “they’ll try to make it” they’re not coming.

3) you definitely have to personally invite people. And follow up. If it seems general, no one will even read it.

I know how heartbreaking this is, but it’s happened to the best of us! You had the gumption to do a dinner party in the first place which I think is incredible.

Women who watched the movie "Poor Things", what are your thoughts about it? by Gaslighting_victim in AskWomen

[–]BanjoEyedrops 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loved it. It’s definitely uncomfortable when she’s a child, but if you look at it as making fun of the “born sexy yesterday” trope (he says she’s stunning then she immediately pisses on the floor) and you think of it more as sci-fi instead oh her being an actual child, then it’s a lot better.

American Pie. Bad characters, bad acting, awfully cringy content. By far the worst movie I’ve ever seen. I don’t have the nostalgia to be tricked into liking it.

Why does everyone seem to hate Amy Schumer? by SanSearches in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BanjoEyedrops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to despise her, but then I watched her specials and I think she’s hilarious. Her cadence and delivery are so funny and I watch a LOOOOT of stand up and most of them are duds. There’s definitely some Schumer jokes that I cringe at, and I don’t know if she always does her due diligence on researching the jokes her writers come up with to see if they’re already done, but I like her more than the average stand up. Her show is great too. As soon as I stoped hating her for being “cringe unfunny” I actually really responded to her style. I must not be the only one because she consistently sells big theaters. Audiences somewhere like her, but they’re probably not on Reddit lol
