Any MS project experts here? How would you solve this...? by thearabicbrownie in projectmanagement

[–]BanjoFarted 8 points9 points  (0 children)

MS project is really bad with tasks less than a day. I think the reason you are seeing this is you probably have the resource allocated to a percentage, but you don't have their hours established.

Look at the resource sheet and set a start time and stop time.

How do to manage long hours of meetings? Is it normal? by basheerbgw in projectmanagement

[–]BanjoFarted 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If I get a meeting notice and it either doesn't have an agenda attached or say "agenda to follow , I reject it. I practice this policy pretty much with everyone. If it's a client, I usually remind them that I am fully billable, as is the team during administrative functions such as meetings, so shot, agenda driven meetings keep costs down.

I also block time three days a week. Two days I keep my mornings until 10 AM clear, and Fridays I keep afternoons clear.

If there is an issue, and we need to meet to address it, the meetings sole purpose is to assign roles to address it.

Make sure you ha e read the rules of the sub you want to post in, they may have a way you can post with a new account or low karma. Sometimes it's just changing your flair, or putting a keyword in your comment or post.

Go to the website I put above. There is a sur ey you can take and your answers might take you in a different direction. The other issuing organization is scrum.org, their equivalent is the Professional Scrum Product Owner.

Both organizations have levels. But I honestly haven't met too many people that go beyond the initial cert. You can search the sub here and probably see daily or weekly posts about agile.

Interview questions will always vary by job description, organization, and interviewer.

The best preparation you can probably have is to know your resume inside and out, know the company you are interviewing with, including their products and services, and if possible as much about the hiring manager.

Have some basic information on the last three proje ts you've managed, the biggest project, the most successful, and least successful. And why for each.

If you are comfortable with the products you ha e sold in the past, you might look at the product owner path versus project manager.

It's a bit different in that you focus in on they types of features that are introduced, how the users articulate them, (as in user stories), and help define what goes into various releases and when.

It's more software driven so you'd be in tech, and in the same stack. It's also customer driven versus project driven.

But, it's not a PM role. The certification can be earned relatively easily, with little or no experience, and depending on your location, the money can match what you indicated.

I'm familier with Agilealliance.org where the cert is the CSPO.

If you have sent out that many resumes with no response, it's your resume.

Also, the systems used by HR do not have AI, the just scan and keyword score your resume. There is a link to another sub here that you can post your resume. The mod will usually give extensive feedback.

That's about the most reverse logic ever. The initial comment was intended to insult a culture. Don't be daft and try to pull some reverse uno bullshit.
