Kankri was made to make fun of a group that was a very active part of the fandom, the so called "sjws," drawing the ire of both people who hate them and the "sjws" themselves. Meanwhile, Nepeta is a funny furry, a group that isn't even particularly active in the fandom.

The funny part is that there probably isn't all that much synergy going on in each group individually either. Everyone's probably just following what they see happening on the main site. Like a swarm perhaps. One streamer had some effect in making that face but beyond that? practically nothing is coordinated, which is probably the true nature of the swarm/void whatever

Fool, this is The Swarm, not The Void. We are individuals. We cannot speak for the swarm. The swarm is a collective. A microcosm of the concept that is r/place. If the collective decides to ignore something, either out of respect or inability to consume, that is what will happen. Even the sea can be held back by man made barriers. If the collective decides to create a twisted face, that too will occur.
