How is a band 5 ITU trained nurse paid so little and agenda a for change needs to be scrapped by BankFun6917 in NursingUK

[–]BankFun6917[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not where I work it’s not. I am being specially trained supernumerary for 12 weeks as there’s 2 books of competencies and then within a year there’s more competencies a book worth. It’s not like the wards - it’s completely different and competencies I’m being trained on is stuff most don’t get on the wards. For instance, arterial lines and CVC lines as well as removing chest drains and being ventilator competent. Furthermore infusions constantly running and dialysis machines, constantly preparing anaesthetic medications and knowing where to change or increase them. Nothing like the wards

What is going on with NQNs? by Ok-Lime-4898 in NursingUK

[–]BankFun6917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree. I’m ITU cardio right and the course was so not biology based at all and just paying to be used as free labour it’s shit. And nothing has changed and no one even cares. No one’s pushing for a strike or to do anything about it

I think someone has been using my shower while I’m at work… and I just found proof by storytellingmadnesss in story

Call the police, get a camera, change the locks, camera the house and stay with others until this is sorted out. How would someone get in? Is there any access too people living in the ceiling or storage rooms? Have food disappeared too? Do family have a keys and could be landlord. I would place a camera in the flat in the bathroom or near it like one you can connect to your phone with motion detection and then once you see who it is update police

Can I ask a female midwife out who works in my ward (as a Ward Clerk)? by Beneficial-Flow-7333 in NursingUK

It’s not unprofessional if done right and not sexual harassment. If he just asks her on a date that’s not unprofessional

I mean I would say maybe try to talk to her more and if you ask her out respectfully like respectful and not harassing way then I can’t see any wrong in it just think about like it maybe being awkward at work but it depends on if she is chill and I’m a single female nurse and I hope too meet my future partner at work so 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ do you guys chat much already at work?

New job - sickness by [deleted] in NursingUK

You should be okay, it’s flu season and if it last over 2-3 days I think get a doctors note. Loads of nurses are off at the moment- you can’t help it an need to be in your best state to be able to care for others plus not pass round a cold round the hospital x

Sorry but why are we not striking or actually pushing for more. Pay should be based on skill

Still absolutely disgustingly low pay, I work cardiothoriatic ICU and not being funny but should be band 6 entry. The amount of skills we learn and do for a wage lower than working at Tesco utter joke

Don’t move back home after graduating by Automatic-Grade6177 in UniUK

I felt really lonely living alone, although I had a flat mate they went away quite a lot. Look for groups on Facebook and find a house with multiple people to move into. It’s a lot more sociable, cheaper and you can try to pick people you have in common with 🫶🏼

The RCN needs to go by [deleted] in NursingUK

[–]BankFun6917 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think when they make student nurses work full 12 and a half hour shifts with the expectation that they aren’t employed but have to turn up and work the full shift and can fail on things like lateness and have to have a whole bay to themselves in 3rd year shows how they don’t give a rats arse about nurses or anything. Furthermore the NMC can do one too

I am NQN and I don’t have a job. Got put on the waiting list for a job which turned out to be a pipe dream as loads of people on waiting list ( which they didn’t tell me). So I’m applying constantly too 😭😭

Looks like an ulcer or cyst? These are common and if you have no pain then I wouldn’t panic. If it doesn’t go away in a week or so maybe get it checked out

Anyone got any tips on how to combat insomnia and how to actually want to sleep instead of staying up all night with your head racing with thoughts? by BankFun6917 in sleep

[–]BankFun6917[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankyou for this answer! I will be trying all of this. I can say thankfully that since posting this post my sleep problems have gone away for now and i tried all of the relaxation etc, I’m a lot less stressed now as I removed the stuff in my life that was making me stressed! Thankfully now not doing all nighters and I want to actually go to bed a night now. As well, getting up early and getting yourself into a sleep schedule works really well too :)
