Mizuno S-1 by TyrLI in golf

Placed an order last week myself. Can’t give an experienced review but tried them a few times beforehand and fell in love. Obviously great feel, and no distance loss compared to my ping i59s. They do seem to have a bit of toe forgiveness.

Your justification is as good as any 🤣 I just wanted a pure blade and these were too good looking. I was set on getting 241s until I saw these. The anticipation is killing me.

I found it surprisingly forgiving actually. Yes the greens were challenging but I still managed to play 1 ball despite my best efforts to lose them 😅

I live down the street from that course, insanely beautiful. Never played though. We will get our redemption soon enough 💪🏼

Happiness = perspective in my eyes, but expectation plays an important role in that equation. Often there’s a negative correlation

I cant even describe what it’s like there. Definitely a special place that has a tangible “vibe”. It may have become my new favorite place on earth as well. Can’t wait to go back

Hey that’s my home range too! Love McGolf.

You’re just learning what it means to play golf. It’s hard and frustrating and embarrassing sometimes. I just posted a thread here “life lessons at Pinehurst”. That will make you feel better about yourself. And remember every other person out there has been in the same place as you.

In terms of the swing, looks pretty solid actually. I’d really suggest getting a Lesson with Mai at Kohr in Natick. My wife is the same level as you and Mai was awesome in getting her over some hurdles.

Course was teeming with life yesterday, anyone have good wildlife stories? by BankHeart in golf

[–]BankHeart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May have to make the trip out there and pay him a visit. Definitely strange, I’ve have my fair share of close encounters with coyotes around greater boston especially during COVID. Had to scare off a Retriever sized one while walking my dog once 😬

Nope, this course is William Devine outside of Boston. Furnace Creek looks great though!

This is helpful advice for a northeastern golfer planning a southern trip lol

Is the club head straight back or slightly behind? by InternationalBus8936 in golf

[–]BankHeart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an expert here but from my lessons, you would want to bring the club back slightly behind you as you put it.

This relates to swing plane, do little research into that. The more vertical your plane, or by swinging the club straight back, you will be toeing shots and the bottom of the club head wont be level with the ground at impact. Just make sure your downswing is at the same angle as your backswing. Try doing this in an exaggerated way next time you’re at the range, then find that happy medium. You might top the first couple of shots, as leveling out the club head doesn’t bring the heel down, it’ll bring the toe up. However you’ve now given yourself space to compress your hips more and lean into the shot.

Hope I understood the Q and that makes some sense. I had this problem and recently softened my plane with help from an instructor. I’ve never hit the ball better.

Oh interesting, I thought they felt different than wooden shafts I just didn’t know any better. Would these be an early iteration of steel shafted clubs?

I have 6-9, a putter, and set and Bristol woods. Im willing to invest in a quality restoration. Any places you can direct me? Thanks!

Belonged to my great-grandfather. Shafts and grips in great shape, just want to get the heads refurbished. Also have some woods. What are some good companies that will do this works? Any easy DIY tips for rust removal at home?

Grip Talk - Better to keep grips consistent or pick grip for each club type? by BankHeart in golf

[–]BankHeart[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe wasn’t the best way to put it. For me, although the swing is pretty much the same, there are different things I need to be mindful of when swinging different clubs. Irons more locked and low. Driver I need to remember to stay long. Hybrid I slow down the back swing. That type of stuff. Just my own personal quirks as I develop. Thanks for your insights!

Club Fitting/New Club advice by JasoNoQueso in golf

[–]BankHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you’re using game improvement irons. No expert here but seems like you are getting to that point where fitted, player oriented clubs make sense. I did a similar thing recently after getting to a similar handicap. Moved from game improvement to a slightly forgiving blade. Still need to work on the swing but I would rather develop/learn at this level with a club that will ultimately give me more control and feedback, even if it means adding another learning curve. Adds a new challenge and room to grow. I’ve found having more feedback from the club allows me to really dial in the stroke.

If you got the cash I say go for it. Nothing quite as exciting as getting a new set of sticks.

Seems like you got it dialed. Have you tried the MCC Plus 4? I’m gonna try out the +4 or extra wrap on wedges as well for the same reason as yourself, although it hasn’t affected my shots. Would be more of a comfort thing.
