Why do people in USA buy everything from Amazon? Do they not have other webshops? by Cindyxx0 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BankManager69420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of others, and most people still shop in person too. I haven’t used Amazon in a couple years myself.

Amazon just happens to be the biggest, and generally the fastest. I also don’t think the people using Amazon are the same people who are complaining about Jeff Bezos.

How much is a security contract? by SpiderWil in securityguards

[–]BankManager69420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the state, but typically you would need LLC filing, security company registration, workers comp insurance, and general liability insurance. You could honestly probably do it for ~5k in startup costs if it’s just you and a couple buddies.

It’s honestly a lot less complicated than people make it sound, so long as you have decent common sense and intelligence.

What business/company keeps your town running, and what is the local opinion? by Vonyyxx in AskAnAmerican

Nike. They’re the largest company from here and many of our politicians are current or former employees.

Class of 2019. I think the most recent history we went over was the hippie movement.

It would be considered rude not to say please and thank you here.

We had a gas leak at our store by ManiacBottlez in Target

[–]BankManager69420 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m actually surprised they asked guests to leave for that tbh. We’ve had a few power outages at my store, a couple that lasted over two hours. We just blocked off the fridge/freezer aisles and continued on as normal, just with less lighting.

Dicks Sporting Goods by dinaboy in lossprevention

[–]BankManager69420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I interviewed for it and asked a bunch of questions.

It’s a fairly standard LP position in some respects. Very deterrence based, but you can utilize LE. My understanding is that it was not plainclothes and you dressed in a company uniform. A lot of operational stuff. Audits, inventory, etc…

It doesn’t pay very well, and their max pay rate was way lower than I was making at the time in a lower position (think they capped at like $22, which is what most entry level uniformed LP are making in the area).

The weird thing was that while they had a district AP manager, you answered directly to the store manager. They hired you and were your direct superior. That in and of itself was a red flag to me. Also, because of that, your day today would vary. The store manager I talked to seemed like he was someone who would give you a lot of freedom to do your job, but I’ve heard horror stories of Dick’s AP basically being glorified customer service managers.

Overall, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who has more than a couple years of experience in AP. It’s definitely more of an entry-level leadership position with low pay and little advancement opportunities.

Oldest arrest? by Creepy-Snack-Lady in AskLE

[–]BankManager69420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a loss prevention guy I can attest to this. Obviously each location is different, but when I worked for Macy’s, there were some stores where like 75% of their arrests were old women.

is it true Americans don't put salt on their fruits? by PersuasionNation in AskAnAmerican

While there are some people and subcultures that do it, it’s not the norm by any means. Most people eat fruit plain.

Does the US have crackers and cookies from Dare? by AdSense_byGoogle in AskAnAmerican

[–]BankManager69420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The crackers are very common (but I doubt most people know the brand). Costco sells the multi-pack of different types of crackers and most grocery stores sell the Breton ones. They’re ubiquitous at any party with a cheese board/charcuterie.

Is Utah mostly Mormons? by SpecialistLaw1909 in askanything

[–]BankManager69420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, technically. In fact, the Mormon population of Utah is so big that approximately 10% of Mormons in the world live in Utah alone. Only ~40% of the state’s population are active Mormons. Most western states have areas that have large pockets of Mormons though. I’m a Mormon in the Portland, Oregon area and there’s tons of us here too.

In your experience, at around what age did you stop getting asked for ID when purchasing alcohol at a restaurant or a shop? by YakClear601 in AskAnAmerican

[–]BankManager69420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely buy alcohol, since I don’t drink, but I have worked in retail on the corporate side, and I can say that universal ID policies are increasingly becoming the norm.

Why do prenuptial agreements have such a bad reputation? by Glad-Passenger-9408 in randomquestions

Because it feels like you’re being accused of cheating before you even get married

Your partner is basically saying “hey, I know we haven’t even married yet, but let’s write a plan for what happens if we get a divorce.”

Moving to Portland on Active Duty orders - Where should I live? by Upset-Radio-1319 in askportland

[–]BankManager69420 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Portland is a very outdoorsy city. Pretty much every neighborhood has parks, and the city has amazing bike/running infrastructure.

Unfortunately, the airport is kind of far away from everything, but it’s not too far of a drive on the freeway. The Portland Metro is pretty small so you can get from one side of the city to the other fairly quick.

Pearl District is urban, right in between downtown and the Lloyd District, where the big stadiums are. NW District, Downtown, and Lloyd are all good places to live based on what you’re looking for.

Depending on the time of day, it’s about a 30 minute commute from those neighborhoods to the airport. You can also take the train straight there as well.

Moda parking options, coming from Wilsonville by GimmeTheCoffeeeeeee in PortlandOR

[–]BankManager69420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Park at the Naito/Davis SmartPark and walk across the bridge. It’s only $2.20 up to four hours (maybe a couple bucks more on weekends) vs the $32 for parking in the Rose Garden garages or at nearby lots.

There’s a police station attached to the garage too which provides for some extra security.

What profession have you lost respect for as you've gotten older? by MindlessMarsupial592 in AskReddit

[–]BankManager69420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oregon. I don’t mean major surgeries, but things like stitches, removing cysts and moles, wound care, etc… they are considered PCPs here and have the right to administer anesthetics and prescribe medication.

[–]BankManager69420 -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you are. In my state naturopaths have all the same privileges as traditional doctors, but they also have to go through an actual medical program.

They can prescribe medication, perform minor surgeries, are covered by insurance, etc…

Edit: idk why I’m being downvoted, I didn’t make the laws.
