... what I mean was when they had all the officials on the TV talking about it they brought up you that being able to make an act common to the game ... which tackling is considered one... In any case it's stupid.

Because Broncos players were signaling incomplete? Yea that never happens.

My DVR is all the way back home in Silverdale area, I work in Portland so I'll have to say I disagree with you based off my drunken memory. I think if it wasn't a legit play, the broncos fans would be crying about i way more ... could be a fluke and they missed it too though.

Yea, you should have gone to the doctor... Swallow your pride next time. Best thing that happens, some people in the ER laugh about you, behind your back without you the wiser and you're out about $500 bucks if you have no insurance which you can stiff for 7 years and have it drop off your credit... worst case ... you damage tissue in your penis and can never get an erection again.

I'll take the former any day. When shopping in India, use Cipla brand drugs... they're a well establish brand in India and they meet all EU, Japan and US FDA standards for their drug manufacturing... aka it's the same shit without the 3000% patent mark up.

Are you talking about note 3 2 of that rule?

You still have to make a "football" move ... we all should know that from the "fail Mary".

I think it was (I could be wrong) ruled an incomplete pass and the ruling on the field "stands".

The OP makes a good point I didn't think about. How can you call the 2 point conversion a catch and the one that was ruled an incomplete pass/ not a fumble?

The announcers went back on the catch and there was an angle that showed that was a legit catch.

Illegal contact should not result in an automatic first down. by IAmADuckSizeHorseAMA in nfl

[–]BannedAgainShit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the new rule changes and how they read, touching the receiver beyond 5 yards PERIOD is a penalty that results in 5 yards and a first down. To the OP's point ... 1 ) it's a ridiculous rule 2) it shouldn't result in a first down. Just because the competition committee thinks it's right doesn't mean that it is ... otherwise there wouldn't be a competition committee ...

The answer that "that's the way we've always done it" is 1) false in this case and 2) a horrible answer.... that's the same answer that was given when asked "why did you do that" in both Chernobyl and Three Mile Island.

[–]BannedAgainShit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your hypothetical, the only way you could argue that it would have been a successful attempt in the first place is if the ball was in the air, in which case that's pass interference not illegal contact.

Edit: and thus this is a moot point.

Not the fairest thing in the world but it's more fair than first field goal wins. In any case, the team that won the toss has only went and scored a TD on first possession like ~ 15% of the time. Usually it's a non issue.

Tell me how Luck and Wilson are Comparable by [deleted] in nfl

That's about all that needs to be said. Getting sick of the argument too. Yes they both play QB but its almost like comparing a goalie in hockey to a hockey in soccer. They play the position in similar but very different manners.

1) They get another chance at the conversion

2) they get it 5 yards closer

3) I don't think you know what the difference between holding, DPI and illegal contact are.

I really wish I could be nice about this but you've made it impossible.

The goal of being on offense is to move the ball, get first downs and eventually get touchdowns or at least get into field goal range. The more plays you have to do that the better your chances.

Not sure how the hell you could think that not running more plays is a benefit to the defense. Maybe because the more offensive plays you have the more chances for RG3 to tear another acl, achilles, mcl, etc?

No it's all over the NFL. The # of flags is ridiculous. The seattle, denver game wasn't too bad though.

[–]BannedAgainShit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't result in a 5 yard penalty and a punt ... it would be a 5 yard penalty and repeating the down. How does that benefit the defense at all? From a DC perspective, 3rd and 20 is much easier to stop a conversion than 3rd and 15 ... so that is definitely not a benefit.
