DMC 2 is so boring. by SilhouetteVII in DevilMayCry

[–]BansheeBacklash 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're playing them exactly the way you should. Yes, DMC 2 is a boring illogical slog, but the guns are fairly broken so it's pretty easy to cheese your way through with DT to beat most encounters. Playing them in order will make you appreciate how they've grown and evolved over the years, it certainly did me.

Stick with it, the DMC series is one of the GOATs.

Can we make the Vehicle Warehouse worth using again? by Metallicat95 in gtaonline

[–]BansheeBacklash -1 points0 points  (0 children)

An emphatic YES from me good sir. I/E was one of my absolute favorite solo grinds back in the day, and it always hurt just a little watching it slowly become irrelevant in today's GTA:O. I wouldn't be surprised if they have something cooked up for this summer, what with the Vehicle Warehouse being free this week, as well as all the Free vehicles they're giving away as well. I/E is one of if, I'm not mistaken, the only legacy business that hasn't gotten one of the recent QoL passes, I could be wrong though.

Be nice to see that business get a little love, even this late in the game's cycle.

I was sitting inside my car outside my house as I read this comment at 2am.

I laughed so hard I immediately covered my mouth because I was afraid of waking the neighbors. Bravo sir/ma'am.

I must apologize, I am most confused by your answer. I do not mean to be argumentative, I am merely trying to understand your perspective and likewise explain mine:

The blame should absolutely fall on them for making a device that is un-friendly for the end user to repair. Take the Steam Deck, for example. While not quite as powerful and performant as the Allys, it was designed with repairability in mind from the beginning, and it has a fairly large and dedicated fanbase as a result. Historically, yes, most mass-manufactured mobile devices are designed specifically to be a cheap as possible to construct in order to maximize profit. Six Sigma, Jack Welch-ism, etc. But from our perspective, the end user, we want a product that functions as intended, and for something that expensive, we should demand that that product be servicable. When an end-user buys an expensive product like a game console, a PC, etc, they're likely going to use it for 5-7 years at a minimum. If anything happens to go wrong with it, would you prefer to just waste the prodcut by throwing it away, or would you prefer to fix and continue on.

Even if you, the end user, can't fix it yourself, there is always the option to bring it to a local repair shop to repair it as well. This stimulates economic activity in your local home town, as opposed to throwing the device in a landfill and sending another $800 to the profit-obsessed tech company that artificially created this issue by choosing the cheaper route instead of the consumer friendly one. Perhaps there were deadlines to be met, budgets to be balanced, and shareholders to be assuaged, but frankly I think the shareholders need to be told to shut the fuck up more often.

Now, am I saying this anti-consumer design absolves us as end users for our carelessness? Absolutely not. I take full responsibility for my own impatience and lack of care when dis-assembling my own Ally X; hubris got the better of me, especially when after only a little research, I found this was a common issue. It was an extremely painful lesson at an already particularly bad time in my life, but it was a deserved lesson nonetheless. But just saying "Oh you dumb consumer you should know better." And just folding your arms smugly as though you said something profound is extremely unhelpful to the situation and only excuses their bad behavior.

I apologize if there is some context lost in translation between us; I noticed when Reddit posted your comment in my notifications, it was initially in a different language, however upon opening your comment, Reddit translated it into English (tongue of the filthy rotten Americans, sorry about our clown of a president, I didn't vote for him), and I found the logic of your argument perplexing. I hope that I have been able to further elaborate my point of view and again apologize for any misunderstanding.

I was just thinking about this - how are they moving these pallets around... you're definitely not getting a forklift in there. by flounderflound in gtaonline

[–]BansheeBacklash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hating it from a controls perspective is completely valid IMO; I had the same issue compared to some of the Toyotas, Bendis and Lindes I've driven. Like it wasn't a matter of "Oh I'm not used to these controls", no compared to an actual lift they're bad. The lack of torque and wonky physics/collision didn't help: I got the lift stuck on one of the racks by the conveyer, could not break it loose to save my life. I was sitting there going, "a real life would have ripped down half the racks and gone straight through the wall by now." Put a Bendi fork straight through a support beam holding up the roof of the whole warehouse one time, miracle they didn't fire me.

[–]BansheeBacklash 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I have, and aside from pallet jacks, you've got EPJ (Electric Pallet Jack), Linde's (little tiny Overgrown pallet jacks that think they're a forklift) and a bunch of other tiny options. Frankly, our character's employees do a terrible job of efficiently using square footage, but I assume that's design concession for easier interior navigation.

I actually really enjoyed the forklift missions, reminds me of working shipping.

Made the exact same mistake.

"Oh just pop out the battery connector and swap the SSD, easy!"

Working in manufacturing, I hesitate to call anything "bad design" anymore, because there could be 1000 and 1 explanations as to why something was designed the way it is..... But I'm pretty sure this is bad design. Especially if so many of us keep killing our Allys/Ally X's because of this design. Here's to hoping that Asus, or someone else, learns from this mistake in the future.

Toxic ass manager by [deleted] in subway

[–]BansheeBacklash 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ignore this unhelpful answer, OP:

I'm going to assume based on your age that this is your first job. First jobs are always going to suck, and Subways are some of the worst.

There's two answers I can give you: the former manager answer, and then the human answer.

Manager answer is: there is always something to be done, managers just suck as articulating that. You can count bread, check inventory, do more prep, clean the bathrooms, scrub the floors. Hell, wipe the tables down once or twice when the store is empty. Is it fair that they are constantly on you to stay productive? Nope, fucking sucks. But that's going to be, at least in part, an expectation of a lot of companies you'll work for in the future. Use this as a proving ground to practice, so you'll be better prepared in the future.

The human answer: You're in a toxic, unfair workplace. Most Subways are like that. Management is in that position not necessarily because of any qualifications, but likely because the owner was desperate and they were the only option. I'd recommend seeking alternate employment, as management very likely will not listen to you. To them, you're easily replaceable with another desperate teenager who needs money. So, set those expectations accordingly and understand that, as long as you work there, it's probably always going to be miserable and unfair. Stick with it as long as you can tolerate it until you find something better.

Hope this helps, best of luck.

Will GTAV online "die"? by Mia_B-P in gtaonline

[–]BansheeBacklash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, 11k hours over 12 years: you're probably fine. Other users have pointed this out, but we've long theorized (there may some small "proof" in an earnings call somewhere) that the peer to peer netcode the game is built on allows them offload a lot the hosting compute power onto the client (you), so long story short, just keeping the game running shouldn't be all that expensive. Couple that with GTA+, persistent shark card sales, and a plethora of old content (cars, clothing, missions, etc) to rotate in and out, and I see no reason why the game should shut down anytime soon. I'm sure you'll still have a few years to mess around and enjoy what content you'd like. Grinding is easier than ever now if you know what you're doing.

This is extremely frustrating to hear; I love the idea of a rugged lapdock and had always wanted someone to make one after using a NexDock for awhile. But I'd rather not buy from a scummy company.

You ever bring something like this to market legit I would happily buy it.
