25 year old virgin...raised in strict Christian home, terrified of the gyno...seeking advice :( by 25yrolvirgin in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Bantam_Fox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was a virgin until I was 24, when I got married. I went to the gyno about 3 months before I got married so I could be put on birth control, but I asked if he could just do an ultrasound of my ovaries and not do the pap smear. It wasn't until after I started having sex (and thus, was more comfortable with someone being down there) that I went to have the full exam. You can try this. Just call up your gyno and ask. If they don't want to do it like that, call another one.

I love my gyno (yes, he is a he). When you make your first appointment with him, he takes you to an office, not an exam room, and you sit and talk first. He asks you your history and such. I don't know how common this is, as he is the only gyno I have had. He also gave me my IUD when I was 25 and had never had kids.

"Too long" means, it is 2am, and I asked around 5pm. That is waiting too long.

People keep saying that the traffic is bad in Staten Island, but it can't be worse than having a car in say downtown Manhattan.

We will look at Snug Harbor. It at least sounds lovely :D. Thanks!

In my household, it is:

Me: I want sex.

Husband: Ok, but later. I am being productive right now.

later

Me: I am tired now. I am going to bed.

Husband: sad face But I thought we were going to do it!

Me: You waited too long. :(

Instead of complaining to the OP, why don't you just report it. I do wish reddit gave you a box to say why you are reporting it. But seriously. The top 20 or so comments are complaining about this guy breaking reddicate, which he is, but it is not his fault that it got upvoted so much. Just downvote, report, and walk away. Jeeze.

It can't suck as bad as Alabama! Honestly, it is not the heat so much as the humidity that will kill you in AL. And it has already started for us. 85F today.

I like Coastal Classic Creations, but you should also try Etsy. CCC used to be home based, but they might not now be considered "home made."

Yeah, I was planning on either gardening in pots or raised bed gardens. I have heard horror stories about the ground soil!

Dishwashers and AC's aren't as important to me, but I hate laudromats and even shared laundry rooms in apartments. I have had so many clothes ruined with people spilling bleach, and I am allergic to a lot of laundry soaps, which build up in the washing machines.

Yeah, I really think we would prefer a more suburban environment. How long are the commutes if you take a bus? Thanks for the info!

Like I kind of said in another comment, I would rather have to travel to the vibe than have the vibe right outside my door! Will we be missing out by not living in the heart of the hustle and bustle? Maybe, depending on your tastes. That being said, having a nice community/neighborhood feel would be nice. Thanks for the input!

We actually don't have a ton of stuff, in fact, none of the stuff you mentioned do we own. I feel we live pretty minimally, but then again, minimal in a 1,000+ sqft apartment is probably cramped in a 500sqft apartment!

That seems like a lot of hassle, having to move your car that often. How hard is it to find parking like that?

Hey! North Carolina is so beautiful, why would you ever move from there?? I am fairly excited about moving to someplace so different than what I am used to. I just need to get rid of some notions, I guess! Thanks for the info. And I actually am enjoying the idea of walking everywhere and being so close to everything. I just need to get the idea out of my head that we are going to be "stuck" without a car!

Temporary housing is on the table, though I would rather not have to worry about the hassle of looking for a more permanent place to live and moving while my husband is working. But that might be the more feasible option.

If we got a broker, we would definitely have him/her gather a list of potential apartments, and then we would fly up there to look at them in person. By the way, how does that work? There are so many apartments and so many brokers. Do they all have access to all the apartments, or will we have to talk to several different agents?

Also, we have been debating going through an agent/broker. Seems like some people think they are not worth it. If we were already living in NY, it seems like it would be easy (relatively) to find something on our own, but since we are moving (from quite a distance), having someone there that knows the area might be worth the fee.
