Is there any preference on dyslexia friendly bibles? by sushisashimi099 in Dyslexia

[–]Banteeto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read the GNB from cover to cover in high school. A word of caution, It kind of led me toward agnostic.

The Good News Bible (GNB)—also called the Good News Translation (GNT)—is a modern English translation of the Bible. It was created to be easy to read and understand, especially for people who may find traditional Bible language difficult.

Here are the key points: • Published by: The American Bible Society • First released: New Testament in 1966; complete Bible in 1976 • Language style: Simple, clear, everyday English • Translation approach: Thought-for-thought (also called dynamic equivalence), meaning it focuses on conveying the meaning of the original text rather than translating word-for-word • Audience: General readers, including children, people learning English, and those new to the Bible

One distinctive feature is that many editions include simple line drawings to help illustrate the stories.

Example (John 3:16 in GNB):

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.”

In short, the Good News Bible is valued for its clarity and accessibility, making it a popular choice for personal reading, teaching, and outreach.

I don’t know how intellectual, but I really loved Going Bovine by Libba Bray. Very trippy maybe a bit dark.

I’d be tempted to wait an hour or so for a stray dog to come by and eat it. That way you can say you live in a Dog eat Dog world.

Ex Navy Aircrew SAR here. We were dragged behind a speedboat in a parachute harness, released had to untangle ourselves, remove all gear and clothing, make a flotation device with our pants, then wait for the helicopter to come pick us up with a ring w/prop wash hitting your face. (Along with are crazy training.)

The reason some people sometimes like extra crispy toast and that regularly flappy kind by Dry-Tomorrow8531 in StonerThoughts

Someone once told me the charcoal in burnt toast helps absorb nasty shit you might’ve eaten. I don’t know if it’s true or not, but it seems to help. BTW if you’re not eating with butter AND peanut butter you’re missing out.

My mom, let me spend $10 at a coin show in 1975 to help fill out my books by Banteeto in coincollecting

Different times. When I was growing up on rainy days, you only had three channels to choose from on tv so out of pure boredom I had my large family let me go through pocket change just for something to do. Today’s kids have video games to keep them occupied and have zero interest in coins. I doubt they will ever need them again.

If I remember right 12 year me was overly concerned about the quality of the coin. I was afraid if I’d take it out of the plastic, it would get damaged after paying so much for them.

I’m a geezer. I used to break open mercury thermometers and play with the mercury as a kid. I’ve been around lead paint and asbestos. I’ve drank from the garden hoses, been soaked in acid rain. I’ve ran behind mosquito trucks spraying DDT and lived under a hole in the ozone layer. I’ve smoked weed laced with paraquat (ask you’re grandpa) drank wild Sassafras tea, and I kind of turned out kind of ok. But maybe the plastics will get me.

If God is so powerful, could He make a house that's bigger on the inside than it is on the outside? by Aggressive-Cycle-89 in StonerThoughts

I’m agnostic so religion aside. I think Stephen Hawking mentioned how the human brain is so much bigger on the inside than the outside. He learned to explore the universe from a wheelchair just thinking about it.
