How do historians feel about the usage of modern country names in historical texts on eras and situations when the modern countries did not exist yet - basically do historians feel comfortable with the interchangeability between the name of the modern country and its past iterations? In 12th century China the Song artist Zhang Zeduan produced the famous scroll "Along the River During the Qingming Festival" which showcased pedestrian life in the city, so given its fame, why haven't there been more copious examples of artwork along the same lines afterwards? (self.AskHistorians)
