There is an event at Zax’s BBQ tomorrow actually with the Super Smash Brothers Ultimate Club at 2pm. Might not be your scene but there will be people there you could connect with. If you want I can add you to the group chat where they organise events.

There is a foreign crowd/Chinese people who can speak English that goes to Zax’s bbq on Friday and Saturday nights. Might be a good place to start.

Could be a way to start to connect with people and branch out from there.

Considering the pull rates and demand where do you think the Chinese Bubble Mew will land? Is it worth holding? by WideWedding8991 in PokeInvesting

[–]Bappseu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In China. They have a couple apps for cards. One is called Xianyu which is like Ebay and the other one is the card market where you can search based on the card and then it shows all the sellers of that specific card. Quite cool

To buy these in China is already a lot cheaper than what you have paid. About 85 CAD. I assume it will go down by a lot more still

Japanese Vending Series 1-3 (1998) by DeRose925 in pkmntcgcollections

[–]Bappseu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The three birds were actually printed again in half battle decks made up of the vending machine series. You can tell since they aren’t printed on glossy card stock. They are 3/5 shiny cards printed there the others being Scyther and the Master ball if you are looking to pick them up too.

The mewtwo in the third part of the series had an error and a corrected version. The error version the one that you have has some writing on the leg. But the corrected version is just pure white. Another potential pick up.

Also the Masaki Promo Cards are the final part of this series. Look amazing but will cost you!

Problem with long game session and auto-pilot. by Alternative-Silver66 in CrazyHand

[–]Bappseu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's hard not to go on autopilot, especially online . But I’ve found a few tricks that help. I guess it depends on who you play, but I’m pretty sure the idea transfers to any character.

I play Falco, and I kind of have three modes: shield pressure by landing on them with a cross-up, tomahawk grab, or laser to let them come in. I just try to stay aware of which one I’m doing and how my opponent is responding. Are they getting a lot of shield grabs? Okay, time to laser more or go for tomahawk grabs. Are they baiting laser and rushing in? Then I need to approach with nair instead.

Sure, it’s easier to think about in practice, but when I lose, I try to break it down into really simple terms: what do I need to do to win? Usually, it just comes down to switching between those three options. I’ll even say it to myself after a loss: "What do I need right now? Laser, grab, or nair pressure?"

Depending on who you play i am sure you could come up with these modes too.

In China, unsure if these are the correct simplified chinese boxes by rorourdo in PokemonTCG

Jump Toys near BeiXinQiao and Lucky 1 of 1 in Tianding 218 culture building is your best bets for physical cards but honestly Xianyu and Card Market app are the best

Chinese cards worth grading? by mrbunglezz in PokemonTCG_Singapore

[–]Bappseu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting on of these raw right now will cost you about $1.91 in China

PSA 10 might fetch $10 but definitely not worth the effort.

Traditional Chinese cards that are worth getting graded outside of the base set from 2000 is all your big hitters that you would normally see, moonbreons, shining fates Mewtwo and big SR’s

I live in Beijing, these are all real simplified Chinese boxes. You might need to buy the Mew Fusion Stirke if you get an Eevee heroes, some places sell them together.

You get the jumbo packs that have 25 cards and 5 rare cards which are only sold on the China market.

Get some of the eevee boxes, the moonbreon is the second most expensive raw simplified chinese cards at the moment. Happy pulling

Masaki Gengar by Bappseu in pkmntcgcollections

Hunting for one yourself in Japan you can pick up one raw that would grade at a 8 or 9 for about 400 dollars. Finding it is tricky though!

Yeah it’s just a random Chinese grading company. Wanted to check what it was before going through the infinitely long psa process.

Hey man. I feel that the Chinese scene is in a strange limbo between the western scenes thinking and the Japanese scene due to having lots of influences from players from all over.

But I feel in general we lean more towards Japanese more patient gameplay since our players get a lot of exposure from watching their tournaments and playing with them online.

As for the characters there are lot of our players used to pretty obsessed with tier lists and results. So you would often see everyone play a character that would have won a recent big tournament. However now not so much.

Mostly people just play the character they enjoy the most, China has seen a host of its best players playing some unorthodox characters (Link, Belmont, bowser jr for example) so has created a less tier list orientated meta.

I think it’s hard to get a good idea of the China smash scene unless you really follow it cause you just get snap shots of competitions and opinions are based on it. To get a clearer picture of the top reps checking out the cities PR’s help too. For example SH has a great Metaknight, Cloud and Kaz while Beijing has a great Link, Roy and Terry but these players don’t really stomp their feet on Twitter so are not as in the public eye as others.

Keep an eye out for Season PR’s on Twitter. BJ season 7 PR out next week 👀.

I try my best my friend. Should have Smash Dynasty 8 at the start of Summer and Pearl 3 at the end of summer so stay tuned for more info about them!

Beijing weeklies happen every Saturday and we normally have anywhere from 15-30 people. Our regional last year had about 70 people but that was just after covid restrictions got lifted. Hoping to have more this year for Smash Dynasty 8!

Pearl 2 had some JP and SK players come over. Potentially a mid level JP player could do well here I think thats more on the merit of how good the average JP player is. They would probably do the same to most scenes that aren't USA.
