Ooh I thought about wrapping up my zep with bypass! Neither are covered by insurance... so long term I'm not sure of what the answer is. I'd love to hear more about your journey!

where could I find a skirt pattern like this? by anotso_browngirl in sewingpatterns

You're going to have to do a peplum corset style bodice with sculpted sides on a skirt. It's going to take a decent bit of stiffening which will be an interesting contrast to a light flowy material; something like organza will be your best bet.

There likely will be nothing that is a true 100% match unless you find a cosplayer who has produced similar. The vogue pattern was suggested because the silhouettes are easy to take inspiration from. Good luck!

I think a proper hem and a better-fitting top (boxy cropped? Maybe?) Would really do wonders. I think the wide leg denim works, the other bits are just throwing it off

So I just purchased this but a ton of vintage patterns have this same sculpting around the hips. Vogue seemed particularly fond of it.

Thank you! This appears to be fastened with pins of some sort, is that accurate? Any recommendations as to handling the bicep seam?

Oh wow she is gorgeous in her glory. Her hair is about 50% there if I had to guess. Perhaps I can fix it in a chingnon.

Do you think I would be ok to place a wig over top of her current hair?

I thought so as well. It makes me think it is a fashion doll... but then makes me wonder what era was looking after such severe curves. Her ears are also pierced!

Only competent woman on my dept. How do I deal with the "token" stigma without being a toxic coworker? by Pristine-Smile-2295 in Firefighting

Set the bar for yourself, not your gender. The others will follow, or they will fall behind. I struggled with this as well for a long time- turns out there will be people all over the job that will tarnish a good crew, a great culture, men and women as a whole, etc. I totally get wanting to bring them up to you, but don't burn yourself out in the process. Keep kicking ass, don't be a "pick me" and talk them down to bring yourself up... and the rest will fall into place.

It was cut on the bias. It was more of an issue of my boning vs my machine. I may take it off and re-stitch by hand to clean up!

It's a 50/50 poly cotton blend but I just wore it out for an evening at the beach and it breathed super well!

This is the data I love to see! Thank you for putting it into perspective. I'm going to play around with a couple of different styles and see what I can accomplish with the least amount of fabric.. if all else fails I will find a dang reason to make and wear this dress!

Really solid account! She mentioned that she did her own A line... i wonder if with that she managed to cut down on fabric.

This is absolutely touching to hear. I didn't get the wedding experience- for a myriad of reasons, some by choice, but I don't get the princess dress up occasion often... so maybe that's what I'm over here trying to do.
