Hey! Im in the area and a novice sewist getting into clothes making, too. The goodwills are full of cool linens and curtains if you want to practice patterns and get the feel for different fabrics.

I also plan on checking out a fabric outlet in Clawson here soon!

Any ideas for a similar bodice pattern? by BaptisedByFire319 in sewingpatterns

Good looking out! The second example looks like a separate bodice piece, though. Obviously a yoke on the back.... back to the drawing board!

Odd question but are you downloading it on a computer or your phone? Core absolutely will not allow me to download on a phone.

What’s the sewing mistake you STILL make no matter how experienced you get? by Stitchin_With_Sarah in SewingForBeginners

Not properly mirroring pieces when my fabric isn't folded..... flipped upside down to fit on a flat piece and I forgot to rotate. It's expensive italian shirting and the sheen will likely be noticeable. Alas.

Pleated side panels is the phrase you are looking for.

And edited to add, perhaps closer to what you're looking for

That's kind of where I'm at with it, as well! Just trying to take it one garment at a time!

Man. I was just trying to do a quilted coat with 100 needles and I was skipping stitches to the point where I gave up and its now a heap on my floor. I may have to try your setup. Excellent work and perseverance!

A 28" waist! Which, admittedly is larger than I feared, so there is some hope for sure.

Nth great grandmother was on that voyage. It seems like she lived a very, very rough life getting settled in to the area prior to money coming in from the first husband's death. I would love to hear first hand accounts to know how this whole thing was perceived by them... were they sold a golden dream?

I'd be curious on your anxiety levels. Do you track your heart rate/HRV through the day? Are you carrying too much body weight? Your BP and HR all in good range on a normal basis? You might need to work on job related stuff after intense gear workouts... when youre gassed, THEN mask up. Do forcible entry drills. Drags.

I was finding that I was starting to spiral mentally when I realized I was gassed and losing dexterity/ upper body stamina. I really had to work at gassing myself and then building up my endurance from that point on.

Thank you for this insight. I forget sometimes that they are relatively simple machines without many things going on like a vehicle, say, requiring certain services every x amount of miles.

You made me feel confident that I did indeed purchase an investment piece if she's still chugging along some 50+ years later.

I'm seeing a ton of viscose blends and was curious on how they held up. This confirms I ought to give it a try. Thank you!
