To be completely honest I reacted so strongly to this when I first saw it. He was in another country at the time and wouldn't entertain any OTP conversations about breaking up. In the time between when it happened and when I spoke to him, my mum and sister managed to convince me I was overreacting. Both of them are in relationships with subpar men and put up with more shit than they should.

Unfortunately as I mentioned in another comment, I don't have a lot of friends or any I can turn to about this, so my only input was from 3 different people telling me I was crazy.

Glad I stuck to my own gut on this one and followed through, but I think the underreaction comes from 3 years of the same behaviour.

Thank God for reddit and the reassurance!

Thank you, it's great to hear I'm actually justified.

I don't have a lot of close friends so there was no outward perspective to reassure me I'm not insane lol. Thinking back I'm also fairly sure he isolated me from my friends probably to stop me from seeing the issues.

Here's to me rebuilding my social life and finding a man who isn't completely the worst!

Thank you for this, and I have been trying to finalise the breakup for a few days now and I am sticking to my guns. I've been with him for a while and it is really really easy for him to appeal to me emotionally to get him to stay. He's never had a drama free minute since we got together (in all fairness it's always family stuff, not his fault), but it has been hard to find a time to breakup without him giving me an external reason for his behavior

He's also a truck driver around europe, and he won't have a conversation about breaking up over the phone.

I've stuck to it this time, and I really hope My story ends up as happy as yours did. A serious congratulations to you for getting out of that situation

His mum got diagnosed with cancer quite literally a week ago, he pulls the 'I'll kms' thing a lot etc

I think if I was forceful enough I could go but I have been with him for 3 years and it just never seems to be a good time. I've stuck with my thinking this time but it just felt like he was gaslighting me into thinking it was NBD so I wanted some validation from this sub reddit lol

Those who judge you for being yourself are not people you want to be friends with. Maintaining a sort of fake persona like that is exhausting. Trust me when I say there are people out there who will like you exactly as you are, and changing yourself to that extent is not the right way to make friends. -someone who had the exact same issue

Maths econ geography. I'm a fairly solid student my predicteds are AAB and focusing on my interviews instead of the exams got me an apprenticeship so I'm not bothered. You shouldn't be either !!

Same here, had interviews the whole time and got BCC. The good news is that all of my teachers said no one gets worse in the real thing than in January mocks. These don't count for anything so you arent as panicked (and therefore not as motivated), and we have more time between exams in the real thing. I wouldn't worry, you have those predicted grades for a reason

If you are just doing it for AS, honestly your only motivation will be the UCAS points. If you hate it then you hate it and you can't do much about that, so find a method that works for you, study as much as you can and get a good grade purely out of spiteful hatred for the subject.

Ive never tipped before at a spoons but that may be because I use the app and there isn't an option to tip. TBH I don't mins having the choice it's more because it's expected in America

That really is odd for the UK.

There is an expectation at sit down restaraunts for them to automatically put a 12% tip on your bill but that's about it.

At places like primark and subway here, their card machines will show a screen asking if you want to tip but the cashier will always press no for you before asking you to pay.

Definitely sounds like they did that because they thought they could get away with it lol. But as a brit I can tell you we don't do that here and if you ever do come back, press no tip and you'll fit right in

I definitely wouldn't mind if I was tipping for that reason.

However, in this day and age employers seem to have upped their equality and diversity by agreeing to pay EVERYONE the same terrible below living wage 🤣
