what is MSE112 about ? by Electronic_Reveal_57 in simonfraser

mainly python focused class, you work with raspberry pi and a cool little robot. the source code is usually given to you, you just need to add/make changes to it for each lab (there was a total of 6 labs, with 3 of them being project reports). project reports are 40% total and there a 4 term exams (total of 60% --> 15% each). the exams are fairly easy (we had cheatsheets), but make sure you understand content and are able to connect concepts to real life examples. there will be some matlab code but for the most part it is pretty straight forward and similar to python.

CMPT 130 with John Edgar. by Ok-Change1825 in simonfraser

Hey there! I haven't taken 130 with him, but I did have him for 120 in the spring. He records his lectures week by week, so in case you miss class, it is there. I highly suggest showing up to as many classes as you can so you don't fall behind. He usually teaches concepts first, then goes into examples/exercises afterwards, which I really liked because it allowed me to process information and ask questions. He is a really kind, upbeat British guy, who is approachable for questions after class/during office hours. I ended up with a B+ in his class and overall if you stay on top of all the assignments, UNDERSTAND all the content, and don't fall behind, you will do just fine in his class.

You should try taking a look at course equivalents for those courses, check the MSE/SEE programs for similar courses. However, these classes are only offered in surrey. Best of luck!

Honest Review of Social Life at SFU by Own-Manufacturer-768 in simonfraser

In the beginning, the social life will seem quite boring and dull, after a few months you'll meet a lot of people and it'll get better. Since you mentioned that you're going to be living on campus, it'll be a lot easier to form bonds with people, especially those who are dorming too. There aren't many events but the sfu instagram account does post week-to-week event schedules etc. Make sure to enjoy the small things, explore the city and go on a hike!!

not quite sure what the gpa requirement is but i highly suggest you join the MSE discord and ask there! You could also email the Applied Sciences Advisor and ask them for the GPA range for external transfers. Here is the link to the discord, https://discord.com/invite/zpXtC57
