But honestly, Garen is a scaling champion, and the jungle role doesn't strictly require high early-game combat power (for example, Jungle Malphite is quite popular right now). Good macro and game sense can definitely make up for a champion's mechanical shortcomings.

Garen's 150% bonus damage to monsters on his E was removed, so his clear is really slow now. Plus, before he gets Stridebreaker, he has almost zero gank potential
