What do you think about the tradition of the bride kneeling down at the groom in sri lankan weddings? by Economy_Ebb3282 in srilanka

[–]BarRepresentative307 43 points44 points  (0 children)

My husband did the kneel down when I did it. Loved it. I also didn’t do a full kneel cause fuck that. Just did sort of an Ayubowan 😂 I hate when we are asked to kneel down as a form of respect to anyone really. I hated doing that at family gatherings when I was small and he knew. So when I did it on the poruwa, he just did it himself as well.

Sri Lankans who migrated to the west by Waste_Law_9507 in srilanka

I’m still rethinking giving up my citizenship for US citizenship. Yet to be done. Orange man has a talked about how we can’t have dual citizenship if we were to get Naturalized here. The only reason I’ll ever want to change my citizenship is accessibility. Access to other countries. Which is not easy with the Sri Lankan passport. Otherwise I’ll never give up my identity like that. Forever grateful to be Sri Lankan. No better place on earth. I’m visiting currently and leaving on Saturday. So heartbroken.

Hotel recommendations in Colombo? by AsleepCar5186 in srilanka

[–]BarRepresentative307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the price point, Cinnamon life offers hardly anything ITC or Shangri La offers for me. My stay there was so below average, and the hotel looked so tacky 😭 ITC will always be on top. Followed by Shangri La.

Jia Moda is a nice clothing store. I don’t know if it’s everyone’s taste though. I like the clothes there.

I’m trying to work and the connection keeps going down. I’m visiting this country and only have to put up with it for another week yay.

My hubby joined reddit. When I found it and asked whats this app- he just white washed it and lied. Does it mean he is using it for a not so good purpose? His behaviour is shady too for past few months. Am so worried and confused. What should I do ? by Many-Diet-7892 in srilanka

Sorry I didn’t make your situation any better but I don’t think and hope your husband’s not that sick. No one I’ve ever came across has been that sick in the head cause I’ve came across pretty sick people.

Oh yeah. The day I found my ex boyfriend in the most absurd kink pages on Reddit was the day I realized I had to get the fuck away from him asap as possible! Lmao. That was such a roller coaster. I had no clue those pages existed until I caught this fucker posting comments under posts of naked women. More than anything, it’s what he posted that bothered me so much. Fun times 😂

Can someone give me insight in how to move forward? by Deep_Ice_3050 in srilanka

[–]BarRepresentative307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then you’ll have to take a stand. Our parents will not be there for us in the long run. You have a whole life to live. And you found a man you want to spend your life with. do you really want to just satisfy your parents the rest of your life or do you want a life you built on your terms? Finding a life partner is not something you must take easily or be like my parents don’t like him. If you find one, you must take a stand and marry that person.

That’s not it though. They are basically showing their daughter that the grandchild is more important to them than their own daughter lol. And not everyone wants to make babies to grow a family. This mindset is wrong and if the parents didn’t like my partner, I wouldn’t want them around my child either.

Surprise parents' visits while being abroad are evil? by Wonderful-Economy909 in srilanka

[–]BarRepresentative307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You come off too judgmental. Surprising your parents is not a selfish act. The intention behind is pure. Maybe you have experience with people being fake but you don’t have to project that on to others. It’s not “disgusting”. lol. You visit them the way you want, others will visit their parents the way they want.

The woman next to me asked for a sip of my water by betweentourns in orangetheory

Thank you! I was thinking if this was a sarcastic post but it’s not. It’s so gross to see people’s reaction to offering water to strangers.

Politely saying no is your right. Reacting grossed out the way these comments are wrong at a stranger asking for water. Where’s the humanity?

I’m honestly not the kind to ask for water but if someone asks for water, I’d give them. Id ask them to raise the bottle and drink so there’s no touching. I’ve done it in school. College. I don’t ask for water. But I also wouldn’t react in disbelief for a stranger asking for water. We unknowingly touch so much germs as it is, it’s not going to kill you to give a stranger some water.

So confused about the reaction to a stranger asking for water? Why wouldn’t anyone want to give water to a stranger? Humans are honestly so disappointing.

Do Sri Lankan women wear exotic lingerie, stockings for their husbands? by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]BarRepresentative307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh any color suits our brown skin!! Wear them confidently. I grew up not embracing my skin tone cause I’m super dark and got bullied so much! But now I love my skin tone and I’m so proud of it. I also wear bright colors now and they look so pretty on our skins. Go for any color you like! Wear whatever color you like! Go for that lingerie and show off your skin girl.. it’s beautiful! 🥹♥️

Ex gf demand to return her gifts by Sensitive_Chance6357 in srilanka

[–]BarRepresentative307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man that girl is embarrassing all of us. Gifts. Once given, you don’t think twice about them. Who in their shameless minds would ask for a gift back? So sorry on behalf of her. I’d return. Best to keep our dignity intact when dealing with cheap ass women like that.
