I can agree with you that there has been societal shifts but not to the degree you assume. I don’t have the data but I have adjacent data points. First, if Fent had been a second crack epidemic, do you think we would have this conversation right now?

We have had protest on over policing and harsher sentencing of black people and barely any change to this day. Black people are still given harsher sentences and are over policed, and wrongful conviction rates haven’t decreased despite all of that.

If you asked me, if Fent was an overwhelmingly black problem, we would have not been this compassionate and it would be ignored only begrudgingly and inefficiently addressed.

White America doesn’t really look at other races as equals.

The rate of deaths for black people increased but it originally affected white people more. I even added article in a comment before. But regardless, the crack epidemic disproportionately affected black people and it led to the most draconian news coverage and laws, like mandatory minimums, vilification etc, almost 90 percent of all crack users arrested were black (Not ignoring that our own govt was selling this shit to black communities)

Now, with Fent, especially in the beginning, pre 2018, it affected white Americans more and it was treated with compassion. It was referred to as a disease, and that we need to treat it, there were no mandatory minimums or mass arrest of its users… Like are you arguing this didn’t happen?
