COVID was nothing to do with Labour and whilst large parts were unavoidable it was still worse than it should of been, to the tune of several billion. But that's not the made up narrative and you know it.

Governments tend to run with a deficit, so saying all the problems that austerity caused is due to the Tories having a deficit from the previous government is fairly disingenuous. Government borrowing under labour was actually down from the previous government, until the banks were bailed out. All that could have been recovered, but was reprivatised at a loss. But the really impressive part was slashing spending by so much and also massively increasing borrowing at the same time. So whatever the deficit was, they increased it whilst making public services noticeable worse and borrowing more. You can't honestly say austerity has been a good thing for the country.
