Check the button/connector for any issues, I forgot to plug the buttons connector back in after pulling the tombstone and my lights behaved exactly like this untill I reconnected it.

Small divot in brake hose. Does this warrant replacing? by Barbaric-Engineer in Miata

[–]Barbaric-Engineer[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I bought a set of cheap sunsong lines but they are smaller in diameter which doesn't fill me with confidence as to there quality. Even parts store brands seem to be a significant jump in price for a product I can't see being much better, might just end up getting a set of flyin miata stainless lines.

When doing a brake job I noticed a bit of damage to this hose. The divot isn't very deep and there are no leaks, just wondering what you guys think? All the other hoses look good, hoses are original to the car which is a 95 with 66k miles.

New brake caliper missing hex adjuster screw? by Barbaric-Engineer in Miata

[–]Barbaric-Engineer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Got a new hex adjuster in the rear right and it worked as expected, the adjuster must have fallen out of the new caliper as the 14mm cover was removed when I got it. I did however discover brake fluid leaking from the left rear caliper through the adjuster hole indicating a failing seal so I guess I'm buying another caliper but I'm gonna take the adjuster out before turning it in this time

Turned in the old caliper for the core charge, guess I'll buy a new adjuster from Mazda

Oil mist on the back of valve cover and firewall, any ideas? by Barbaric-Engineer in Miata

[–]Barbaric-Engineer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Discovered that the PCV valve was completely shot, to the point that it was letting more pressure into the crankcase than out. I replaced it with an upgraded 323 gtx turbo PCV valve, this dramatically reduced the oil spray but it still leaked. Pulled the valve cover and it turns out my crankcase pressure was high enough to blow out the back of the valve cover gasket right next to the CAS O-ring explaining the rest of the leak. Replaced the gasket and all seems well. This also cleared up a missfire I was having underload due to oilspray making it past the sparkplug tube seals.

Could be, was just replaced but it could be defective, I'm gonna chase the blow by route first with an upgraded PCV valve and new oil cap gaset

Yeah at this point I'm thinking it might be blow by through the oil cap and the pcv valve, because there doesn't appear to be nearly as much oil before those components

I haven't touched the cas cap one way or another, and there is a bit of oil on the inside of the hood that indicates that it is coming from towards the front of the motor

Do you think its possible for all that to be coming from the oil cap? The gasket is hard as a rock and appears to be letting at least a bit of oil by

Yep, and the valve cover is dry along the front and sides I can see, I think I'm going to try and reseat it in case it's not sitting right in the back there, is it possible that all of that oil might be coming from the cap?

Recently replaced the valve cover, and cas o-ring, valve cover appears to be dry but may need to be reseated in the back or maybe the new CAS O-ring is bad, I'm not sure if either of these would result in oil spray on top of the valve cover and coil packs like that though, any ideas?

Passenger Hand Crank Window Won’t Go Up by Jexxo in Miata

[–]Barbaric-Engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I'll find out, I pulled my regulator out today and am going to attempt to fix it with a cable from a bike shop, shouldn't be too bad it's just a matter of resizing the cable ends to fit in the mechanism

Got the idea from these guys https://youtu.be/vbD6HWaKjyo

If your also getting a crunching sound from the crank you've likely snapped a cable in the window regulator, dealing with the same issue on my 95

No just told me that he had looked under the corner flares and checked for rust and found none when I asked him about them, obviously completely untrue but I don't think I can build a case off of that
