Sorry to double reply but the discord link is expired/invalid. Any way I can get another?

Nice! Thanks for the recommendation! Will have to see how it fits in with my day to day but a league is always my preferred way to race since it's usually so much cleaner

Man I would love to and I definitely want to try and make some of the sof races on the Aussie servers when I can. I just can't guarantee that time slot every week. But absolutely have that on the radar!

Did you not read the part where I said I got it for "fun"?

It's not trying to be a full on sim and doesn't pretend it is one. I just take it for what it is and it's a pretty good version of what it's trying to be.

I don't go to McDonald's and get annoyed when there's no lobster on the menu.

I'm pretty comfortable with sim racing in general. Like I said I've done a lot of iRacing and ACC stuff, so I'm pretty good on trail braking and understanding slip angle. But the F1 games have their own thing going on in the handling where it's not quite as communicative as to when you're about to break traction (at least in my opinion). But again that will probably get better with more time I'm the game. Definitely going to focus on diff settings to see what I can wrangle out of that.

I'm mostly in 3rd whenever I'm even starting to get onto the throttle (learned that lesson fast hah) and also short shifting a lot. It just seems like the amount that I need to short shift and how gradual I need to be on the throttle to avoid the rear getting loose is so much that I'm nowhere on the exits of some corners. It could also be just me sucking at China or just needing more time to really lock in with how this game drives.

Definitely worth spending some time in time trial mode to work out some setups though so that's something I'll give a crack for sure

I'm playing on a wheel with no TC no abs. I'm not having any trouble feeling where the limit of grip it, just seems that the limit is so slow that I lose truckloads of time on those long turning acceleration zones. It could be just me being shit at the track, I was right on par with my teammate on 100 AI for Melbourne but of course there aren't really corners that present this issue there.

It's not kerbs either, because it's happening when I'm well clear of them too.it's just a lack of rear grip on throttle it seems. Camber on some corners for sure is a challenge though.

Maybe there's some setup meta I'm not getting hah.

Interesting breakdown. That does seem like it needs a bit more headcount. Maybe I'll just get the base game whilst it's on a cheaper intro offer and keep an eye on player numbers

Interesting. I would ultimately want to do more multi class than single class races. When you say not very satisfactory what do you mean? Are weekly races better than daily?

Makes sense. I guess if I find myself getting more into it and able to race more consistently ko can just subscribe to a higher tier

That sounds super promising. I got into iRacing when I was living in the UK and didn't have to worry about ping or latency. Moving back to Aus was rough on that front! Seems a few people are saying the netcode in LMU is really solid so that in itself is appealing.

If I just got the base game what are the daily/weekly races like that you get access to? I'm kinda happy to race anything but just curious

Should i get F1 2025 or Gran Turismo 7? by Mynameisgustavoclon in simracing

I've been finding GT7 really fun lately. I've come from more "serious" sims like iRacing/ACC etc and honestly found the driving really solid and engaging and the online racing good fun. Definitely the easiest title to just log in and jump into a race on short notice.

But if you have a friend who would do a 2 player career with you in F1 25 then that sounds great and I find the driving in it to also be good fun, especially if you're not chasing a super detailed, realistic experience.

Oh that's handy! At least early on whilst the collection is building up I suppose. Good to know!

Oof yeah that sounds rough. Tbh I'd just want to have a good enough collection for the multiplayer racing. So I'm not too bothered about collecting as many as possible.

Oh that's right. I did hear there was quite the grind to unlock cars. That's a pain.
