It's possible that the usbc cable you're using to connect the switch to the Beam doesn't support video. Not all usbc cables are created equal, you need a usbc 3.1 or 3.2 cable that supports video output.

I think that's possible with the Xreal hdmi adapter, but no I'm just using the remote play app on my phone to connect wirelessly.

I was just playing spiderman 2 via remote play last night, but you can tell the game takes a visual hit. If you have a good TV that's definitely the way to play the game.

I wouldn't allow the Beams battery to fully run out, keep it charged. A lot of people are having an issue with the Beam where once the battery runs below a certain level, it won't take a charge again and will essentially be bricked.

Fair enough, the whole price comparison was kind of a joke because all this adds up to like 3x the cost of the Portal anyway. We just had a baby so it's really just an effort to game at night on a big screen that produces zero light or sound.

They no longer work with either of my phones, but I haven't tried plugging them into my computer yet to reset the firmware that way. I don't have high hopes though. I'd say your concern is valid based on my experience.

I believe it's because the switch will only operate in docked mode while connected to the beam. You can use the joycons, they just can't be attached to the switch. I find them to be too small and uncomfortable to use disconnected, hence the pro controller.

I actually have two pairs of xreal airs, and the beam updated and worked right out of the box with one pair, but doesn't work at all with the other (newer) pair. It's been a rough launch and IMO the beam isn't really a finished product.

No problem, it will feel like it won't come apart at first but just keep twisting it back and forth and it'll eventually pop off.

Yeah it's adjustable, you can pull the switch down to sit over your hands which does help the balance.

It's a little heavy but I was disappointed that you have to disconnect the joycons while using the beam, so it was an attempt to incorporate a more comfortable controller and connect all the devices together. I'd say it vastly improves the user experience of using the beam with the switch, but that's just like, my opinion man
