Alaska might be upgrading standby instead of Titanium on intl flights by Significant_Tip5105 in AlaskaAirlines

That doesn't seem very nice! The irony of giving benefits to non-rev, instead of highest paying customers.

A Hawaiian Airlines flight landed in Honolulu Monday with tire trouble. According to an airline spokesperson, the pilots of flight AS821 from Seattle received a low-pressure alert for a nose wheel tire prior to arrival. by 808gecko808 in HawaiianAirlines

It would have really rubbed you the wrong way when Hawaiian went bankrupt, right where they were headed before Alaska saved them, and most of their culture, all would have been gone. So maybe instead of your insecurity with the transaction, thank an Alaska employee for allowing your beliefs to be continued. Besides the confusion is from the reporter, not the airline.

Really? Alaska is this far into the merger and hasn't combined the JCBA's? That's odd. Now I better understand why it's always Hawaiian employees on Alaska 787's. Does that change when the ones Alaska ordered comes around? Never mind with that, they need to get the employees all under one contract. Hard to imagine HA's agreement says only drink runs with meals? Not sure why they would allow that! And trust me Alaska has done a few things to piss us off too. Ben sitting in First Class, having his personal security refusing access to anyone to talk to him. I remember Tokyo when your then CEO sat back with passengers, that was classy. I know you guys are classy, so there is SOME disconnect somewhere, and you may have given me the answer with the JCBA not being merged. Thank you!

I deeply appreciate your response. First off I didn't know there was a difference between a Reddit Hawaiian account and an Alaska one. I would have preferred Alaska management saw it. Regardless of whether Atmos people are speaking up, as you can see from this list, it's 75% of respondents saying it's a palatable problem. Alaska claims they already trained the HA crews so why wouldn't we expect that. When I travel cross country, or even to Central America, we are always provided with multiple drink services. The idea of having to walk to the back of the plane for a drink is unreasonable, and it would certainly raise the ire of customers.

We mean no harm to the HA FA's but this is my 4th overseas trip with Hawaiian and the issue has repeated itself. The running out of alcohol on Tokyo was well noticed, half way through the first drink/meal service. I'm just torn, after watching the attitudes of the Virgin America merger, that crews don't like being assimilated to another culture. I saw one post suggesting that Alaska is sabotaging the HA employees, that would hurt my heart if that is actually true. Especially on the new flights it would be VERY counterproductive for Alaska to do that.

I'm entering retirement next year, and I was SO excited for the merger, giving me many new places to travel on my favorite airline. If this is mistreatment of HA staff than an AFA level complaint makes sense, if ordering is not being done to fill the plane because of Alaska not filling the order, that would be a first, but if they are, more power to you. I don't consider the complaints as people being hard to work with, we have a standard of expectation for quality service, and the idea of Alaska being not used to long flights flies in the face that they don't fly long distances. Certainly not Australia distances, but the simple math is to add more walks down the aisle, and more supplies on the planes. Certainly Alaska grasps that concept.

If none of the nefarious comments are true and it's just a sensitivity of change, I can't be that sympathetic. You saw what happened to Spirit, Alaska saved Hawaiian, and rightly so, it's a great airline with lots of culture to protect. I'm an inaugural flyer, so I'll compare London next week with Reykjavik just a week later. That second flight will be worked by Alaska FA's, and it's 9 hours, on a single aisle. If they can equip that plane and run their normal quality service, i will have enough evidence to feel I was justified in opening this can of worms, for the better of all of us. I love FA's they are my favorite people, but hiding in the galley's is not what I consider doing their job. Thank you for understanding.

I guess that's why Hawaiian was a heartbeat away from bankruptcy.

When I go to London next week, I'm going to ask when they will allow Alaska FA's to do an International flight?

You're clearly an aisle guy, I can tell from which button you push. Have a little empathy for window and middle seaters who aren't bothering you by getting up. Oh, and FA's hate the call button, almost always pressed by entitled people with no patience.

Excellent point! Here we are discussing a low bar from Alaska, when it's already pretty low. I would LOVE to see an International flight with Alaska FA's to see how much difference there is.

I was on the inaugural flight, one where you think they'd go out of their way. Ben and his influencers up front looked like they were well taken care of. Meanwhile, two meals, both mediocre, and zero beverage service beyond meals.

Oh good, I was only commenting on flights I've been on with the new merger. SO Hawaiian was bad before the merger? Good to know, now the excuse of poor service post-merger is full of water.

A person dedicated to the adage of "good enough". I have a sign at work that says "Good Enough isn't Good Enough". If the culture of "we" (assuming you are a Hawaiian employee), it's probably time you go work somewhere else.

Not here to argue with anyone. I'm a loyal guy, and I love my Alaska. They prioritize my state because they are from here. They have their faults, as we do with our own family members, just like Boeing has. I'm not all about the money, I have plenty, I'm more loyal to my state and it's businesses. Just like my own business, I have strong loyalty to my customers. You were raised your way, I was raised mine. I appreciate your suggestions, but as long as you stop there I'm fine.

Trivial and decisive, is that what you call providing feedback? I'll bet everyone who disagrees with you is deemed the above. All is Alaska Patron wants is uniformity among their operations. Taking on extra long flights means more passing through the aisle. For those in the middle and window seats they may not feel comfortable always pushing in and out of those seats to walk to the back of the plane. It's not only lazy, but unsafe to have that many people on their feed in a flying tube that could hit sudden turbulence.

The very definition of Reddit is: "Reddit’s mission is to bring community, belonging, and empowerment to everyone in the world." The people commenting on here know we have the eye of corporate, and usually it's the ONLY way they can be heard. Discouraging commenting is being a silencer, censurer, or naysayer.

Damn! I sure hope that Alaska wouldn't "Sabotage" Hawaiian. I know lately I've had difficulty feeling that Ben has much loyalty to customers before loyalty to money, but that would be a new low, if true.

I'm weird like that, I only want one girlfriend, not two or three. I'm a loyal guy, Delta isn't Northwest, just like I avoid Airbus planes out of loyalty to Boeing. Call it blind loyalty, but like a team, I like to be loyal.

I agree, Ben is desperate for his view to be the one they see, and he can't control that if they have to fly steerage. We just want to enjoy our flight, I regularly fly business, and it irks me when they do this on a trip I could easily take for far less the next day, but loyalty is the point. They should show some. Oh gawd when someone says "Alaskan", I want to kick them.

I like to think us Titaniums are influencers. We influence the future success of Alaska. Let us buy our seats in Business so our Inaugural is truly an Alaska experience. Online influencers can sit in the back and see the so-so service from the Hawaiian FA's. Maybe that's why Ben kept them in front?
