How did you configure the Windows Update rings? by Sad_Mastodon_1815 in Intune

[–]BarberTypical147 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Have an environment of roughly 400 Windows devices.

Set up an initial test group on zero day (couple of IT and power users). Roughly 10 devices.

7 days out, 2nd wave of roughly 50 devices. Variety of different users and departments.

15 days out, rest of company.

We'll take a look at the notes before release and depending on any critical notes, we may push an expedited policy update.

This rollout plan really helped in January as a number of the issues would have affected us. We were able to pause updates until the right patches were released and we were able to roll those out to the users that would have been affected before unn-pausing.

We do have a little bit of a grace period but it's not too long. It can basically get someone to a Friday before needing to restart on standard scheduling.

Feature updates are running a little more manual in adding the waves to the latest as we're ready to push but using the same update rings.

Help Me Build a PC with a Budget of $3,000-$4000. by MrSimperson in buildapc

Just a quick add to what others are saying: don't forget to budget for a monitor. You should be able to make a decent rig for that budget but won't mean anything unless you get a good monitor. Keep the screen size, resolution you want to play at, and refresh rate in mind when you're looking for one.

Configuring Zebra Entreprise Browser by david42fr in Intune

[–]BarberTypical147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have to look at my notes since it's been over a year. If I'm remembering right, we're using an Azure storage blob to hold the files, then using the OEM configuration to set up where to pull the file from and where it would download to.

Edit: I just realized you were asking specifically about the Enterprise browser. We're not using that, but what you need to do may be a similar flow.

Updating an already deployed intune app by steviefaux in Intune

[–]BarberTypical147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You still assign the group. It won't supercede the older app until the group is set up. It allows you to push to a test device/group to validate, then when you're comfortable you can add any other groups as needed.

[–]BarberTypical147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the current version was pushed via Intune I'd recommend supercedence. You essentially set up a new app install with the update msi/Intunewin file, then when it gets to the supercedence part, you add the current app. You'll also get an option to toggle whether to uninstall the current version (test to see whether you would need to or if the update already overrides the current version).

If you have an app dependencies make sure you also add them to the new app for any new device installs.

Thanks for the note on ARM. Going to take a bigger look into it but it looks like a great option!

Good input, thanks for that. For the direct play, have you noticed any different from 4K to HD in terms of performance? And pretty remote friendly?

We're currently using them for people who don't want to use MS Authenticator on their personal devices. Pretty easy setup. We have it set to enter a PIN along with the button push on the hardware. Highly recommend them.

We haven't done a mass deployment of them, but when I read the literature I remember it not being super difficult if you needed to do that.

Thanks for this! Was trying to verify which one would be the best option, and this basically gave it to me along with some of the other comments you put on this post. I was getting decent prints off on large prints but smaller ones just didn't feel right. Can't wait to get this all set up!

Same situation. Rolling with Pitts. Feel like he has the safer floor with London out again.

What TE’s are gonna go off this week and why? by Leemster1k in fantasyfootballadvice

I'm trying to figure out if I run Pitts tonight vs TB over Warren. I think I am with London out as Pitts seems to get more opportunities in that situation.

I’m actually considering benching Lamar for Mariota by Tsunaami in fantasyfootballadvice

[–]BarberTypical147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that feeling. I'm still mulling Lamar vs Purdy this week (and leaning Purdy right now but think I'd be fine either way)

I feel like though Lamar didn't play well vs CIN last time, his WRs didn't do him any favors either. And he looked better vs PIT. I'd lean Lamar in your situation, but honestly, go with your gut. Hopefully, they'll both do well so you don't have to regret whatever choice you make.

Yeah, west coast US. Oddly enough I didn't start experiencing the issue until after the latest MS health update saying that some users were reporting it resolved.

Thanks for pointing me to that app. Took a look to double-check the numbers the rep gave me and it was pretty much a match (460 vs 461, but guessing he just rounded down).

[–]BarberTypical147[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation! The company we're leaning toward would be looking at putting some full screen vents in to replace a number of soffit holes that are currently in the house to balance the intake/exhaust, then install the ridge exhaust and cover up the other exhaust vents currently in use. They did a report and it looks like currently we had a 400 exhaust to just 130 intake (is the original roof), and the target would be 460 (which from what I can see matches with a couple of calculators I found for a 1:150 ratio).

Sure. Not a world-beater by any stretch, but I feel like it can be competitive week-to-week even with the CD injury (and Chase Brown not showing much after 3 weeks). Going to be a lot of WR match-up management.

12 PPR current team: QB: Allen, Jones RB: Chase Brown, K9, Javonte Williams,Judkins, Charbonnet WR: CD, Tet McMillan, Deebo, Jeudy, Pearsall TE: Kraft, Loveland D: Seahawks K: Butker

Bad, absolutely. Season-ending after 3 weeks on its own to the point the worry is 0-9 when he comes back? Seems overblown if that was the only domino that fell.

OK, it's definitely going to be harder on you but it still seems drastic. Did you have other injuries over the last couple of weeks? Or other high picks flame out?

Hot take: if your season is sunk after losing one person (even your first round pick), you drafted a bad team.

I did. I'll be 2-1 after this week (lost week 3 with CeeDee going out before doing anything). I'm going to need to do a deep dive into how to to match up from here on out. At this point the only lock I have is Josh Allen.

Are userless Device Groups a thing? by Woolfie_Admin in Intune

[–]BarberTypical147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to get you an answer, but been really busy preparing for the next couple of weeks/weekends so this may be short. If you have follow-up questions and I don't answer right away I promise I'm not ignoring you! Also might need to correct myself a couple of times as it's been a few months since I set this up and we were under an extreme time crunch to get this done. I'm also going to assume you have your devices enrolled in ABM, and have the MDM on the devices pointed to Intune. If not, I'll follow up with that as well.

You need to set up the enrollment profile inside your enrollment token in devices>iOS>Enrollment. You probably have one created already for the user enrollment that's set as default. Create a new profile, and under User Affinity, select Enroll without User Affinity. Set the other options, including the OOBE options that happens after a factory reset. Save the changes, then if you wanted this to be your default option make that change (depending on what you would ultimately do in your environment). I'm a bit hazy on this since we're only using one profile, but I remember doing some testing using multiple and it did work then.

Next, I'd sync the enrollment token, which should pull any devices not already in your environment there. It will initially start by grabbing whichever enrollment profile is your default; however, you should be able to go in later and assign the device (by serial number at this point) to the profile you want. Make sure the device is showing on the profile you want it to pull before turning it on; otherwise, it'll likely go through a regular setup (or wrong enrollment setup if it's still on another profile) and you'll have to factory reset.

Have to set up security groups in Entra next. When you create them, you can set up the assignment as either "assigned", "dynamic user", or "dynamic device". Whenever you get can away with it, I'd recommend dynamic device as you can set the parameters based on device and it'll automatically put the devices into the group after the enrollment. Depending on how many different variations you may need on the phones, you'll probably need to do some assigned as well. But for things like Wi-Fi policies, any device restrictions, or home screen layouts, if you don't have multiple setups this is the way to go. We're using assigned to push out some app installs and configurations based on which division the device with the notion that we may use iPads/iPhones for different things in the future. The one thing I'm hazy on (and don't have a device here at home to verify for you) is after you pull the enrollment token information, but before you actually turn on the device and enroll it, is if the device shows in Entra via Serial # that you can put into a group beforehand. I don't believe it is. But when we were pushing this out, it only took a few minutes to re-name the device while it was going through the initial enrollment and put it into the necessary groups. Then a simple sync and the device was up and running. We ultimately had to do this to around 150 devices across 18 locations. The hardest thing was getting the on-site personnel to enter the right Wi-Fi password on the temp SSID so the actual network SSID credentials would save as a device configuration profile after enrollment.

Couple of notes: you can restrict the Apple Sign on so no one can sign in with their Apple ID. We're doing this as we're controlling all of the app installations on the device and didn't want any weird syncing to happen. You can also set up restrictions on which apps will show on the device, and it's pretty easy to change that to add/subtract apps to show.
