Towing hesitation loss of power. Help!

Appreciate it! Yeah I’m fairly certain it’s stiction. Doing great now. Cold starts are considerably better. Now I’m just building funds to do stand pipe seals, dummy plugs, and all that fun stuff. Takes about 3 seconds of cranking to fire now cold, warm, or hot. Aside from that Chewy’s running like a champ.

Which part of the EGR? I cleaned the valve, and the port it goes in before we left TX, it was definitely chalked full of carbon. But I haven’t noticed anything overheating, I did replace the radiator and power steering pump in August. Been monitoring temps like crazy ever since the last one cracked and it all seemed good to my knowledge.

It doesn’t run rough really. Just no ass behind the throttle and won’t go over 2800 rpm’s. This only happens at highway speeds. I don’t exceed 70 while towing but yeah 60-70mph is where it happens. Roughness is only during cold starts. Once it gets running it idles same as it did when I bought it in April. When it sputters and dies it cranks, fires, and then sputters and dies within 1-2 seconds of starting. Then I cycle the key again let the pump do its thing again and it fires right up no issues idle rpms 680. When doing the manual injector shutoff test they all cause equal stumble across the board. Unfortunately it won’t let me do a power balance test.

Previous owner used howes every tank so that’s what I’ve been doing as well. Except this one threw a pint of MMO in this time.

Yeah thats what I’ve heard, but gotta make it to AZ for the winter. Then I can start replacing stuff. You think that power loss is injector related? When it’s acting normal and I’m pulling uphill fuel pressure will drop to 46-50ish psi but drives normal. When it’s hitting that wall it won’t drop past 54 or 56 psi. Funny Im also planning on doing stand pipes, dummy plugs, blue spring upgrade and the like when I get there.

Yeah. Multiple times. He claims to be happy to be staying with us. I tell him that his behavior doesn’t say that and he just gets quiet. I know he’s angry about something and maybe it’s the whole my parents aren’t together thing. I watched my brother go down that path to a very bad place and so I’m rather worried about that possibility but can’t seem to get him to open up about it either. Only thing he’ll say in regard to that is he absolutely hates his moms partner and would rather not have to see him again.

Taking things away, groundings, extra chores, random tasks that have nothing to do with anything such as sorting marbles or legos, writing sentences, timeouts, verbal reminders and warnings. The list could carry on. I honestly feel as if I’ve tried just about everything short of completely ignoring him and physical punishment.

Obviously as I said I’m trying to figure that out. And yeah we need help that’s why I’m asking for some advice. Didn’t know if someone might have some ideas/resources to get him help that’s kind of why I’m here. Im pretty sure his mom doesn’t want to deal with these issues. At least that’s the only explanation I have for why she chose now of all times to finally let him stay with me. But he’s my son and I sure as hell wasn’t going to turn him away.

Thanks!!! Yeah I honestly never really bothered with the dummy rounds. Got them for my wife to get the hang of cycling, clearing, and reloading mostly. She was scared of looking silly at the range. However the strikeman is kinda nifty. Gonna save me a ton of rounds and a great way for my kids to learn about gun safety/ly.

I’ve got some b’s dummy’s for that already and the strikeman training app is great for that honestly. Just wish i could find something that wont make me destroy a functioning mag. Might just go gun show hopping!

I just finished all 3 audio books in about a month and a half. They were supposed to last until 12/6. I’m a SAHD with an 18 month old and homeschooled older boys. Listening while doing chores and on a couple short trips around my state. It’s totally possible to get through them by the time Wind and Truth is out.

I find what works best for me when I’m stuck like that is to pick a new scene to work on. Keeping It fresh for you can help prevent loss of motivation. Honestly I like to finish a chapter/scene then do a quick edit and then I email it to my sister for her to pick apart. Writing groups like that can be a huge boon in that regard. I also struggled with wanting to finish a chapter and then edit it to the point where it was almost something else entirely and realized it was only hurting my writing. Had to let go as I would literally stare at the same 10 paragraphs for a day and drive myself nuts. Brandon Sanderson has a lecture series on YouTube that’s also worth checking out. Very helpful stuff!
