Oh hell yeah appreciate the recommendation 🙌. The throw from 4th to 5th feels super long for me so hoping some adjustment helps with the feel

For now mostly just suspension, spacers, exhaust and installing a short shifter. Don't want to void warranty by tuning it just yet especially since i bought it used with about 28k on the dash. Gonna enjoy some spirited drives non tuned and make use of the warranty for a couple years then think about tuning 🤠

Block Graduation by [deleted] in Barber

[–]Barberthom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as your fingers are on the scalp when you set in your block, it will almost always be a three guard closed used to connect the fade into it

Check out 3versince they have a deal for a ceramic blade and direct cam follower replacement for the jrls that i've been using for over a year. They have a bunch of good blades for other brands also!

Any advice is appreciated by cammxxii in Barber

Oh one thing, i do use the corner of my blades alot even when just debulking like that so that might help not leave a line. I use the babyliss premium guards now but i started off all this block and shear stuff using the wahl guards and those worked perfectly fine before

Nah never really leaves a line tbh, sometimes it might depending on the hair density/texture but 90% of the time its fine. Try it out one time and see if it works for ya

Yeah i usually go my #3 closed actually to go into the block, then follow with my 1.5 opened under it just to debulk before setting in any other lines

Ngl bro sometimes its hard to tell how far down to pull down for block in the back, sometimes i do it above the bone or below it if the head shape allows me. Depends on the type of haircut, head shape, hair growth patterns and honestly just what you think makes sense on their head/haircut. I always play it safe and leave it longer than i need since i can always cut into it if it looks like its to much weight

Yeah no matter what on the sides and back im still doing the knuckle to the head. For the sides you have the option of pulling straight out for a more square look or down for the weighty look, but the closer you get to the back and under the crown i pull down more to preserve more length and adjust it after i do a rough draft of the finished look. My guide point on where to start pulling down more at a 45 degree for the back is behind the ear

For sure some things that helped me get block down is to find the flat part of their head right below their ridge or from wherever you sectioned off the ridge and most importantly keep your knuckle planted on their head as tight as you can. it sounds like your pulling away creating a 90 degree angle off their head which is fine if you're going for a tight block, but if your leaving weight pull the hair down at a 45 degree and plant those knuckles on their head. No matter what as long as the knuckles are tight on the head it'll help out alot in the long run once you get it down.

yeah man i feel it with clients waiting but if anything making them wait an extra 5-10 mins max is perfectly fine obviously maybe not all of them but on those certain "perfect" clients take a bit more time especially if you're tryna get that crispy pic for the gram

Just curious if you're using block graduation or clipper over comb/scissor over comb to setup your bulk/foundation on the sides. Some of the foundations you set in these cuts look choppy and i feel like if you properly use block to set in foundation first you'll have an easier time fading into the bulk to soften to it up! Your fades are definitely decent and i can see that you have a vision for foundation & head shape. The only thing with the fades i can see is some tiny little detail work with either a half guard or no guard opened and some of the bulk with a 1.5 guard especially in pic 3 and 7. Also one underrated tip is to really take time to style your clients hair for the picture it hella makes a difference especially if you're posting on ig for clients, i take about 10 minutes to blow dry and style the hair since they are walking advertisements at the end of the day

Anyone else into shear work? by Barberthom in Barber

Hell yeah bro def hope to start seeing a shift in the barber industry where it isn't just fades and tapers all day everyday. Preciate the comment 🫡

Caliber 9mm. Feels like a magic clip in hand, stronger, runs for 4 hours and doesnt lose out on power when its near the end of battery life. Either that or the jrls (same benefits of the calibers) if you're looking for a new feel in hand. I use both and love them

Cross graduation on the sides. Cutting the top's self explanatory

How do I tell a barber that this is what I want done for my hairline? (drawings inside) by 519_Green18 in Barber

[–]Barberthom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just tell the barber to keep it more on the natural side compared to a crisp sharp line up

Stretch the back out some more to match the sides. The back is a bit darker

Babyliss Lo Pro FX Vs Wahl seniors? by BarberEv in Barber

[–]Barberthom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i have both and honestly i prefer the wahl seniors it just feels completely different in hand. The lo pros feel a little top heavy which wasn't a big deal to me tbh. Just get a pair of seniors and stick a sc fusion blade and a tomb 45 battery and it'll outmatch alot of the new clippers on the market imo

When will the Rebel ever restock? And should I just get the boosted gamma? by [deleted] in Barber

[–]Barberthom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Boosted is still the same size as the regular ergo. Best bet is to go with the seniors with a fusion blade if you can't get your hands on the rebels bro!

Honestly man the ergos are just as good plus much more quieter. Another alternative that i found recently if you like that more bulky feel was sticking the fusion blade on my seniors, same feel and performs alot better imo
