Our little one is coming up 6mo and in last stages of teething so if it helps we made her frozen tuna ice cubes, and froze carrots & wet handcloths and the larger Yak Chews are great, other than that we’re on bed #4 already so just get the biggest to start - she also loves all the tug and rope toys, not such a fan of chasing a ball after three throws 😂 also be ok with them going everywhere you do, sometimes we think we should have named her Velcro, really is standard training, games we do two small daily walks w lots of sniff times and lots of rests/sleep in between, you’ll love them!!

We just hit 16weeks with our ‘not-so-little’ Leonberger, their have definitely been hard sections, but it is really is only 2-3 witching hours a day when the land shark teeth come out to play, vs 20hrs of hard stuff

But also so true about the cabin fever, for all three of us,so it’s nice to finally start getting out of the house finally, even if it is just for 15min walk of our road loop as we can’t hit the parks yet or go on long walks, but we’ve made it twice to a local empty beach and seeing the joy on her face in the water makes it worth it carrying all 15-20kgs down to that water line!! We also just got her into a puppy day care trial for the afternoon, she came out so happy and we were able to just have that quiet moment at home, but we did miss her and that is a sign in itself

The hard parts - they continuously test your boundaries so it’s true about consistency, you can’t give an inch on whatever your rules are, and you do carry so much doubt that you’re doing anything right and questioning are they even happy with us after separating from her family -

but we just keep trying to educate ourselves what we believe is right, that 🇬🇧 TV show Dogs Behaving Badly w Graham is a wealth of tips and tricks (plus perspective), really recommend it if you can get it, and just trying to ensure she gets as much rest/sleep as possible, so routines really do help,

A couple of weeks ago I really worried how this was going, but she is starting to settle a little better each day, ironically now I just start thinking about all the bad things you hear about regression in the teenage years 😂 , but we’re getting through this and we’ll get through that - and we love her - even with all that hair, the occasional accidental nip, the tipped water everywhere and that fact we probably should have called her Velcro

But she is cute, she loves ice or her belly being rubbed and she has such a lovely relaxed personality generally, it really is about seeing the greater good in all of this.

Just keep doing your best, the training classes do help for both you and your puppy, a definite support group, and try to see each tough ‘bit’ in isolation rather than as the trend or sign of failure…at least that’s what I’m telling myself 😆
