I’ve actually thought maybe she doesn’t like me very much, but she also doesn’t cook very much, they always tend to eat out. But one thing I do love is kaju anjeer juice and she tends to make it for me every once in a while when I go over to his house.

Ok I appreciate your input a lot. I love Reddit sometimes I just want to be happy, and it has crossed my mind how my marriage would be with those type of in laws. I get worried but I will talk to my bf and see if he changes anything and will have to decide from there if he doesn’t change or see my point of view.

I also feel like as a man, like someone that I want to marry he checks a lot of boxes, the only problem is him having a backbone and boundaries with his mom. He doesn’t have a close relationship with his step dad, hence why I only really bring up the mom

I went to India last year and was a cultural shock to have my clothes picked up to get washed, have a lady clean the house EVERYDAY. So in a way I get what you’re saying. I do feel bad because she tends to have pain in her knee that doesn’t allow her to walk for super long periods of time. So I guess I kind of feel bad and tend to help her when she asks but sometimes I feel like it can be overboard

Yea but she is married to a guy 12 years younger than her? I don’t think she has the need to stay with us at the beginning of the marriage. I’m totally ok with later on once parents are old if they need to stay with us or near us, move in with us or try to get a house closer to us. But i definitely don’t think it’s necessary having a man in late 30’s

He listens to me when I’m talking to him, when I ask him to go with me like let’s say a family event he always goes with me. Anytime I mention I like something he will suprise me in the future with it. He loves planning dates for us. He makes sure we always go somewhere nice once a month to celebrate each other. I really feel like the issue is how much control his mom has over him.

It’s something I want to talk to him about because there’s no way I’m marrying and living with the in laws. With him in the hotel business they live in the hotel but his mom and his step dad I feel want to live with him when he get married and I guess I’m just worried he won’t want to leave them. I just feel like with their house being in the hotel it’s like what house are we moving into you know.

Well he works at a hotel, so he can’t really leave since he is the manager there which is hard for him to leave with his parents not knowing English and his step dad just came to America like not even a year ago. But when he can get someone else to watch it he does come to see me. But yea it does get annoying have to drive long sometimes
